Li'l swamp buggy update
I posted this in the wrong spot the first time.
Here is My swamp buggy.
I am working on a big swamp buggy but the instructions are just garbage.
I have a .049 on thos boat. I have another lil swamp buggy that i am thinking of putting a 10 on it.
Just not sure if a 10 would be too big of a motor for the boat.

[8D]Nice color scheme. [8D]
I just wondered if you are going to put a pusher prop on it, remove the starter spring or simply going to enjoy the fun of reverse air-boating
I want to build one too for my throttled TeeDee but i'm still looking for plans.

RE: Li'l swamp buggy update
This was my first boat. I thought it was easy to build. Dumas plans stink. So i made one mistake in the bow, you cannot tell.
I have build a second one for my son. I had his built in a weekend other than sealing and painting.
I am thinking of changing the motor mount on his and putting a 1.0 motor on it.
I have had a right handed spring on the boat with a 3 bladed prop. The video is with the pusher prop on it. I was told that a two bladed prop would run the boat faster so I was playing with the 2 blade puller.

Talios,
The .10 will be way to much for the little Duman Swamp Buggy. To much power and weight. I would be way to top heavy and will flip over in turns if it didn't swap ends first.
LAter,
Tim

Well here is the lil swamp buggy with the .10. The first part of the clip i had the motor running a little rich. Then you can hear on the second part that the moter is running a lot stronger.
It is a little top heavy. I have flipped it more than i would like. Its a quick little boat and lots of fun.

I have this kit but no instructions. I think I can figure it out but need to know what glues, paint, waterproofing, fuel proofing, water sealer etc. to use. Can you help me out. I am a long way from a hobby shop and would like to get everything on one trip.

jsesere,
You will want to epoxy the two sides of the boat to form the left and right sides of the boat. I then used ca to tack all of the ribs in place making sure they are square as I went along. I used ca to help cover the bottom of the boat. After putting the bottom of the boat together I used 30 min epoxy to seal the inside of the boat. The only change I think I would make is getting thin plywood to cover the top of the boat. The red wood top will warp if any water gets to it or in time it will ripple. If you are going use a radio you will want to run the linkage cable from the servo to the rudder before you seal the top of the boat. If you are going to use a throttle you will want to put together the engine stand and figure out were to run the linkage cable to the throttle. You can seal around the plastic linkage cable sleeve with epoxy were the cable exits the hull. I then put a thin coat of epoxy on the outside of the boat. Sanded any high spots and then painted with Flite Lustrekote. Make sure you seal both sides of the radio compartment door. If any water gets on the door it will start to curl.
If you need anything else just let me know. I have not been on in awile and not sure of what pictures of the boats i have posted. If you need any pictures to help you out let me know.

Just to clear up my post. Make sure you run the any control cables before you seal the top of the boat to the bottom half. Think i was a little ahead of my self just then.

The .40 looks wicked. Mine has been on the water and it did great. Thanks to all for the help. On my way to putting in a .15 Medallion. Than should make it rock and roll a bit, that is if it doesn't shake its self to death. Gotta love that old Cox stuff.

Jetpack, the bottom is flat with 3 runners to help keep it stable. I added the exrta servo to control the speed until the kids get the hang of it.

I like the tank set up on the Little Swamp Buggy. I wasn't sure it would suck fuel through the bottom tank vent but now now it will. Back to the shop for me.

RE: Li'l swamp buggy update
It works good. I have close the carb wile spinning the prop to pull the fuel up to the motor. (I have a ground remote with reverse, I use it to close the carb as a shut off.) Then I put the power to the glow plug.
I had the tank just below the motor and found that it made it too top heavy. Once it was moved down it ran a lot better. If you need any other pic's of the engine mount just let me know.
Here is a video of it running. The engine was a little rich but it will give you an idea of the differance in speed.
