Default Anyone still running a Flitecraft Miss Outlaw?

So, I pulled the old Miss Outlaw out of the closet, cleaned her up, and went through the motor (all was well). I got her back in the water yesterday after a 5 year hibernation. The weather was perfect when we first arrived to the pond. The old SuperTigre 45ABC fired right up, but it will need a little fine tuning. My son and I ran the airboat for about 5 minutes and it ran well, albeit a little sluggish, until the pressure line from the muffler to the fuel tank popped off. She lost power and died pretty quickly.....in the middle of the pond. A gentle breeze kicked up and started to blow the boat slowly back to shore. My son & I thought it would be a good time to drop his Nitro Hammer in the water for a few laps. The NH was running well until it hit something (probably a turtle) and broke off the rudder. Shortly after the Miss Outlaw came to shore, the wind picked up and cut our day short.
Oh well...next time.

Is there anyone still running a Miss Outlaw? I understand that Flitecraft went out of business years ago after the death of the owner. What is the likelyhood of getting replacement parts?

I wish I had some pics. Some people on this forum have probably never seen a Miss Outlaw. I'll try to post some pics soon.

"The owner of Flightcraft died but the company lives on by his son. The new company name is Dane Hobbies, I was able to order the kit directly. If anyone else is looking for a new Flightcraft airboat the link below will give you their contact information. "

I know this is an old link, but is the Dane Hobbies still in business? I'm guessing no. I couldn't find it on the web and the link is dead. Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Need some input on how to seal or add some foam my airboat shell, flipped it again and but the time I got out to recover it she was going under.
I think it is getting in under the lip of the plastic shell where the RC gear is fitted and the screws that hold the rudder on to the shell(cracks in shell from screws being over tightened).
Best I can think of is just to use some silicon to seal the areas.
RC hatch is too hard to seal to shell.
Was thinking about spraying expandable foam in some areas but I don’t what to blow the thing apart.
Also don’t know if spraying foam in the wrong areas will put of balance.

Thats a BIG no no ! ( NO expandable foam ! )
And YES ... thats a BIG yes yes ! It WILL throw off the balance BIG time !
get some CA glue for a simple , fast fix .
Or , you could use some epoxy and fix her up the right way . Lightly buff up the plastic , then apply a thick glob ( just don't get rediculous though ) of epoxy , wiggle the cracks just a little so that the epoxy gets in between the cracks and let cure . When done , sand to a SMOOTH finish .

Thank you very much.
I will steer clear of the expandable foam.

I got one a few weeks ago bought it from e bay very cheep so had to lol

guy said it had a small crack it was well cracked all over so glued up the cracks then put tape over them filled the hull with two tins of fibreglass resin then expanding foam just for luck hull seemed very flexible so its now okay not had it in the water yet fitted an sc40 but the carb is giving me problems but a very light boat fitted with an air rudder hopefully it will work lol

That post is only 3 years old, they are out of business.
Make your own parts or look on ebay.

Hello Vinny,

E-bay is your best bet really, or possibly some other online auction site. I found my parts on E-bay. Tower Hobbies is always a good place to look. Since our airboats are part plane most universal(cut length to fit) throttle and steering cables can be used. What parts do you need exactly? The wet rudders from Aquacraft are essentially the same. I purchased a few Flitecraft kits that were unassembled and the rudders are identical to Aquacraft. Of Course there are aftermarket aluminum rudders that would probably work as well. So the rudders can be replaced at least. The engine mounts might possible work as well. Original parts are rare. Let me know what you are looking for and I'll keep my eyes peeled for them. Hope this helps!

Brian

I think I have an extra shroud that I might be willing to sell. I'm not sure about the tank. A good place to match up a fuel tank is here. http://www.sullivanproducts.com/Fuel...nMainFrame.htm Unfortunately I'm building a house right now. All my airboat parts are in a box that is in storage at the moment. I'll see if I can find it and get back to you.

I still have a Tempest that my uncle bought in the mid '90's that he gave to me when he moved. I haven't taken it out yet. The company going out of business prompted me to make plans to take the boat apart so I can make some aluminum positives of all the plastic parts, including the hull, before something majorly bad happens to it. The original gas tank had a leak, so I scavenged one from my plane, the dog chewed the plane up, the tank seems to be doing fine. The best part about the scavenged tank is it's bigger, giving me a slightly longer running time. I'm going to have to cobble something together to hold it in place since the shroud broke a while back. Having never used the boat, I'm curious about the performance of any of the boats in this line.
