Ryan,
Thanks for the compliment! This particular boat is a prototype that I have been tinkering with. The motor is a stock OS46AX, some mods would be cool, or maybe just slap a .61 on 'er! [8D] I am working on a predecessor to this in which I have made a few changes and mods to the hull. When I get it up and running, I'll post it.

There is a Few of us Shooting for that Engine, lol. Brad is the closest one to it so far with his Sting Ray 47+ mph. Chris is surely in the running though. Makes me wonder if Chris pulled that water rudder off of her how fast it would go then. Not counting the fact that it would prolly be un-controllable, lol.

Ryan,
I'm hoping the predecessor will hit 50+ mph. I'm still trying to decide what I'm going to use for power.
But I do believe that if I strapped a .61 on the prototype that it would be capable of 50mph. As far a winning the motor, it would be nice but thats not my motivation for hitting 50.....because once I hit 50, I'll be looking at 60.
Big'n,
I have ran the protype without the water rudder. Once the boat was on plane and cranking, I had very little control over it. It would just keep going straight. I should take it out into the 750 square miile lake that I live on and just let it go and see what it does.

Ryan,
You know....70 comes right after 60 and so on. [8D]
There is no turn fin at all on this boat. Just a water rudder.

Take her to the lake and SET HER FREE BRO SET HER FREE !!!!!! i think with a longer straight away this thing will just go faster and faster and faster!!!! Until melt down, lol.

I have no turn fins on this boat at all. Just the sponsoons, center hull, and the water rudder located at the rear of the boat. No turn fins.

Could I ask you why your not using a turn fin? Is it because it's an airboat or it will add drag in your quest for speed?
It does seem to handle very well for an airboat but for a rigger it's quite weak.
I do understand you don't plan to do circles with it and it is an airboat, but it looks like it has plenty of potential to be a fast boat that can turn on rails.

Ryan,
Thanks for your thoughts.
This boat was intended as a straight line runner. I wasn't it expecting it to handle the way it does. And I am sure a turn fine would definitley set the boat on rails, but also make add some unwanted drag. When building airboats with a general outlook in advance for the boats desired performance you will learn thats its a give and take with speed, handling, and control. Something is going to give when you expect more from another. If I was building a strictly oval runner, I'm sure I would have a turn fin on it for sure. This is my very first rigger ever. I have never been into water proppped boats and wanted to give a rigger a shot. Its been a blast and I look forward to tinkering with the boat to see what else I can get from it. I agree also, I think there is some more speed from this boat....just got to find the time to do it....LOL
