"Selph-Inflicted" 3 Pointer
Since this is not what brings home the bread for the family (yet), I don’t have the time to hand cut my boats. And since I’m a big fan of precision work, which you don’t get with hand cut boats (I’ve ran set up for CNC’s and ran Quality Control for several aircraft machine shops for many years.), I have been working with a laser cutter with a few of my designs, with others in the works also to achieve maximum quality and precision from boat to boat.
The first time I built this boat, about 8 months ago, from Luan . Luan is cheap to try different ideas with, then use a quality grade Birch for your finished product when you have perfected the design. I have ran this laser cut prototype several times and am very happy with the performance. It is a blast to run! I am using a new OS61FX on it, almost fully broke in. I prefer OS”s reliability, power, and quality. My camera man has not been available for a bit, so I have yet to get video. But now that the motor is almost broke in, I’ll be sure to get video soon. There is a RCAA Race/Meet (Radio Controlled Airboat Association) this June 9th & 10th in Central Florida, I’m sure there will plenty of videos of it and lots of other boats from other fellow airboaters also coming real soon.
Here are some pics of my 3 point hydro laser cut prototype. The boat is cut from 5 ply 1/4" and 3 ply 1/8" Birch ply. The boat is very simple and easy to put together and performs well. Turns nicely both directions and has speed to go along with it.

Talk about sharp!!!! How did the build go. I mean was is easy, do you have to have a jig. If so does a jig come with it. I would like to be the first to put one together. If it is as easy as your luan kits ....I want one. Any video yet!!!!

Isn't this the style of boat that was said not to turn well?
Now I know that there was a post somewhere showing this boat being built, who was it that made the post I don't remember, maybe he will come back and make a post telling us about it.
Oh I get it now, this is a sells ad, sorry guys. I'll let ya'll finish working then we can chat later, good luck.
