RE: Boogie Board airboat contest 4/15/08
Looking forward to running the winners in the May/June or July/August issue of Airboating Magazine. Contest ends right at our cut off for the May/June issue, so we might not be able to get it in until July/August. If anyone has any humerous short stories to include about their build projects - please send them to us so we can try to include them in the article. We will be working closely with the M.Ab.A. on getting this article set up and making sure we get all the winners, sponsors and everything in the article.
Good luck to everyone and have fun.

I was at Wally World today and they had Boogie Boards $10.00 and up. How are the Boats coming a long and are there members from RCU that are going to enter the contest . You do not have to be a Member of the M-AB-A to be in the contest. Give it a Try you may win.

This contest is open to everyone interested.
We are starting to get a few emails of completed boogie board airboats, and its looking like this will be a great contest. RC Airboats are starting to get a lot more attention and the sport of RC Airboating is fast growing. Thanks Guys and the best of luck to every one.

To keep every thing fair, we are not posting pics until the end of the contest. If anyone that has built a boogie board rc airboat and would care to post their boat, they are more than welcome to. Other than that I say do a search here on rc boogie board airboats, there are many to get a look at, if your looking for ideas on what you are wanting to build. There will be a sample picture in the upcoming issue of Airboating Magazine.
The main thing to do is to make sure that you have a great time building.

At the moment we have about a dozen boats that have entered the contest. We are looking forward to seeing more boats enter, but time is nearing the end, so guys get your boat entered.
For those that are interested in how the boats will be judged.
1. All the boats will be given a number (judges will not know who the boat belongs to)
2. The boats will be judged by score added from things like; over all look, style, use of a boogie board and a few other things, mostly on the fact that its a RC Airboat built from a boogie board. We are hoping that this would give everyone entered a very good chance of winning top prize.
To all that have already entered and to those that plan to enter thanks and best of luck to all.
One week left good luck.

RE: Boogie Board airboat contest 4/15/08
I was asked by MABA if they could use a picture of one of my airboats to promote the contest, I said sure.
I’m building a Boogie Board RC Airboat for the contest. I will post a build thread after the contest.

I also agree that number 7 should take 1st place.
We need help in judging the boats, pick the top 5 and rate them from 1 to 100. I think I have all pics up. We are having a little trouble with the email system, if you have sent in a picture of your boat and it is NOT in the above pictures, please resend it to [email protected] thanks. Because of the email trouble we will allow boat pics for 3 more days (4/18/08)

RE: Boogie Board airboat contest 4/15/08
Here's our 2 cents worth from someone who does not know RC Airboats but looking at them from how does it look like an airboat and overall design and presentation:
Top 5 in order 1st to last would be (our opinion only of course)
7 Barbie and Ken - Nice overall design and presentation. Good looking engine stand, very detailed well designed rudders and cage. Even has a stick. Engine looks nice and clean and wires are mostly hidden. As far as making it look like a full size airboat - he did a great job. Barbie needs to watch her hair when he cranks up or she may be sporting a shorter doo.
3 Tiger - Nice cage, well designed and clean looking dual rudders, overall style and design is very nice, looks like he did some extra styling or modification on boogie board - hard to tell exactly with photo. Obviously Mad Man Tiger is set for some racing and I suspect he has a can of nitrus under that seat.
2 Little Goofy on Blue Board - Nice design and presentation. Nice looking cage, propeller and like that old single rudder design.
6 Iguana - Nice propeller shroud, Unique rudder design - however unpainted wooden block with antenna kinda detracts from overall presentation Clean looking engine, wires color matched and mostly hidden. OK - now that I know this is an airboat RC transport hauler - that block makes more sense!
13 Goofy - Nice front Rake added, only one that had that feature - obviously a grass boat! Good looking dual rudders and nice overall presentation. Good looking engine mount. Missing a prop shroud or cage putting poor Goofies ears at risk (in fact I don't see a prop) Goofy looks like maybe he just blew the prop and he might be heading for a tree stump!

Some One has had a good time trying to destroy this contest on the MABA website. The MABA is working very hard to build up the rc airboat. We are working on getting back what was destroyed. All of the Boogie Board builds are excellent and the Guys that took the time to build deserve to find out who took places, and we are working on that. Good luck Guys.
