Lipo3(4!)pointer Depron airboat with video!
thought i'd post up a few pics of my newest boat-
i dont seem to have much luck with water driven props but air props are fairly simple!
got a 3S 2200 mah lipo powering a 2409/12 tower pro brushless motor with an 8x4.3 slowfly prop and with a 30 amp esc( normally a 25amp is fine but i might prop up a bit)
i made a nitro powered boat similar to this a while back but had some design issues with it!
this one seems to have overcome those- it looks more like my nitro after i modded it heavily!
took some inspiration from Chris Selph's-SI 3 point hydro- Thanks Chris
i made the under side more like a tunnel hull so it lifts up on to the rear sponsens when its on plane
it does go some and i hope to get a vid REAL soon! just a small issue with ice down at the pond[&:] - ice -depron and speed dont mix well so im gonna clad the bottom of the front sponsens with ply like i have with the rear tub/sponsens
this is my nitro one i made a long time back
--------------------
went to the pond for a run with the boat but ....1/2" thick ice over the whole surface
came back home via back roads and stopped at one of the main drains and water was down far enough to get to!!! woo hoo
now i know the looks not there but it was a quick build to see if it would work- as my last one like this was nitro powered and had a few setbacks lol!!
so have a look at the vid and see what you think
theres 2 vids the fist with a 8043 slowfly prop and the other i changed to a 9070(9x7) cut down to 8" x 7"
the rpms are lower but definatley the speed came up!
slight dig on the last corner and as always you get a flip! hehe
not bad video considering the camera was balanced on the handle of the tx and i had to hold it at an angle so it didnt fall off lol
kids semed to enjoy it though
