RE: Post your airboat pictures here!!!
Although this isn't real, it's quite interesting...
"Prop vehicle airboat" http://developer.valvesoftware.com/w...le_airboat.jpg I forgot who it was but I think somebody on here created a similar wood hull with a nitro engine in the middle, I think it was a .40 puller It's 2:30am here in Florida gotta get to bed[sm=bananahead.gif] |

RE: Post your airboat pictures here!!!
That has to be one of the coolest series of pictures Ive seen- That boat looks like it HAS to be haulin ass !
Nice work on the boat Nitro, Nice work on the video editing SI - and sweet design too for the boat. |
RE: Post your airboat pictures here!!!
Thanks for the comments!
The boat has been GPS at 57.6 mph with an OS61AX. It runs 55+ constantly. Yes, Nitro has done a fine job on his boat and I enjoy videoing the action! |
RE: Post your airboat pictures here!!!
SI, that speed is crazy. Cool to see the full set of pictures!
Must be a hefty priced camera.[8D] Also, Don, thanks for the links. That boat is so unique.;) Appreciation sure does show in the airboat forum, in my opinion, it does more than anywhere else in the RCU forums. Also less flaming and inappropriate content than anywhere else I visit on RCU. Maybe that's because we're one big family?!?!?[sm=71_71.gif]:) |
RE: Post your airboat pictures here!!!
I've seen that boat running, in person.....The jaw drops and the head shakes every time the throttle is opened...It's amazing.
Koolaid, you are right, airboaters seem to be a touch more on the friendly side and the family atmosphere is prevalent whenever we get together either in person or here on the forum....... Which reminds me, where has Cousin Terbo been lately? LOL |
RE: Post your airboat pictures here!!!

Dumas could make a killing on BSB's if they would use pictures of the BSB's on this thread. Alot of beautiful boat's guy's. Some real nice finishes. And you are right about the overall atmosphere on this site. Everyone seems more interested in helping others and seeing there boats than playing the "mine is better than yours" game. I wish I still had my BSB from 20+ years ago. Dennis

RE: Post your airboat pictures here!!!

RE: Post your airboat pictures here!!!
dadkins, search back 4 or 5 pages in airboats to find additional photos and info of my building experience for this one.

ORIGINAL: Dreamin Hemi ORIGINAL: mjderstine just a couple pics. scratch built tunnel hull. I cut about a foot off the tube for running, it went on the lake for the first time saturday. it was GREAT. that is 1/4 inch pushrod tube. I would have to go about 80mph to make it bend back that far. it doesnt even flex at full throttle. |
RE: Post your airboat pictures here!!!
I've just found this thread and would like to know where I can find plans and advice on how to build these. In particular, I'm concerned about how to determine balance points and CoG.
Call me optimistic, but I'd like to build one powered by a 25cc Homelite gas engine (already built, tested, flown...but not on water). Any suggested links for plans and design info? |
RE: Post your airboat pictures here!!!
This is a good set of plans that you could enlarge. There's at least one other good site for airboat plans, I just can't seem to dig it up. And weird how the pictures currently aren't working on the link I'm posting.
http://cajungatorairboats.com/v-web/...topic.php?t=54 General tip for airboats CG: for hydro's, 50% from the rear(dead center) mono's(more common, flat bottom usually) 30% in from the stern |
