I forgot who it was but I think somebody on here created a similar wood hull with a nitro engine in the middle, I think it was a .40 puller

That particular SI belongs to my good friend NITRO. We captured that pic during some speed runs. The boat hit a small wake and took a hop. I slowed the video down and captured the pics. The boat did not fly. Here is the run shots I captured from the video.

The boat has been GPS at 57.6 mph with an OS61AX. It runs 55+ constantly.
Yes, Nitro has done a fine job on his boat and I enjoy videoing the action!

Appreciation sure does show in the airboat forum, in my opinion, it does more than anywhere else in the RCU forums. Also less flaming and inappropriate content than anywhere else I visit on RCU. Maybe that's because we're one big family?!?!?[sm=71_71.gif]:)

I've seen that boat running, in person.....The jaw drops and the head shakes every time the throttle is opened...It's amazing.

Koolaid, you are right, airboaters seem to be a touch more on the friendly side and the family atmosphere is prevalent whenever we get together either in person or here on the forum.......

Which reminds me, where has Cousin Terbo been lately? LOL

Dumas could make a killing on BSB's if they would use pictures of the BSB's on this thread. Alot of beautiful boat's guy's. Some real nice finishes. And you are right about the overall atmosphere on this site. Everyone seems more interested in helping others and seeing there boats than playing the "mine is better than yours" game. I wish I still had my BSB from 20+ years ago. Dennis

Just a quick thought, have you used this boat yet? Seems as though the antenna would bend back while under power and be chopped to bits by that prop![sm=eek.gif] Nice boat by the way, I love the scratch builds.

I cut about a foot off the tube for running, it went on the lake for the first time saturday. it was GREAT.

that is 1/4 inch pushrod tube. I would have to go about 80mph to make it bend back that far. it doesnt even flex at full throttle.

I've just found this thread and would like to know where I can find plans and advice on how to build these. In particular, I'm concerned about how to determine balance points and CoG.

Call me optimistic, but I'd like to build one powered by a 25cc Homelite gas engine (already built, tested, flown...but not on water).

Any suggested links for plans and design info?

This is a good set of plans that you could enlarge. There's at least one other good site for airboat plans, I just can't seem to dig it up. And weird how the pictures currently aren't working on the link I'm posting.

for hydro's, 50% from the rear(dead center)
mono's(more common, flat bottom usually) 30% in from the stern
