Fuel Tank Location
 

I,m just finishing up a Dumas BSB which will be .40 LA powered because thats what I have unemployed at the moment.I may install a larger engine or even go electric in the future but for now what I want is a reliable retrieve boat for our new float fly location.
With the fuel tank in the stock location under the engine is muffler pressure enough to ensure good engine runs?Are there other options?I see the Cline business is up for sale due to ill health of the owner but maybe they still sell the pump which looks like a good bet.Anyone else making a pump? Is a header tank a possibility?
All suggestions welcome.
BTW I did do a search on RCU and got some info but wanted to see what other wisdom is out there..................thanks............Kevin

I personally like to mount my tanks on the same level as the engine. But have mounted many tanks below the motor plate in the past with great results without a pump. The motors used were OS. Other motor performance may vary.

I have even seen an OS46FX with the tank located in the hull, 6" below the motor with about 18" of fuel line, and with no pump. The motor didn't seem to care. The only thing we noticed was that it took just a short moment to prime the lines. Once the lines were primed, it ran fine. Like I said, different motors may act differently.

You could always bench mount the motor and try the tank at different elevations to see how your motor is going to react.

I tried a header tank on mine didn't work the fuel tank in my air boat was in the hull it had a perry pump

I moved the tank up to the engine at the carb hight

the engine runs very fast now i used a 6oz tank if you want pics i can send you some very easy to do

plus point is you can see how much fuel you have very easy to fill as well

down side is mite make you boat a bit top heavy but you can turn your engine upside down !

oh if it breaks down use a fishing rod or use it in a pond lol
