Default Traxxas Villain IV brushless upgrade

Ok so this winter I am planning a major overhaul on my Traxxas Villian IV boat which is now about 7 years old. I have decided instead of buying a new boat i'm going to try and upgrade this one for better performance. Since this is my first time doing this i have a fair amount of questions and i have been searching all over the web trying to find out info on how to do this but not many of my questions have been answered. Things i still need to decide on are: What size brushless motors? (i need 2). If i need two ESC's or not depending on the final motor choice. if i can hook up both motors to the stock reciever i have right now which is a three channel or if i need to buy a new reciever as well? seriously any and all help and advice is welcome!

Currently ive been looking at the KD36-60-06L 4000kv Brushless Inrunner as a starting point.
http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=6672

the motor needs to have 25mm apart mounting holes to fit.

idk what a good ESC for this motor would be or if it is too much / too little power
Batteries are the last of my worries and will be purchased depending on the motor and esc setup.

Thanks,

I really would prefer not to use Traxxas motors in this boat because of their cost. Is there an alternative motor / ESC setup that will produce roughly the same amount of power?

or what ESC would you recommend with the KD36-60-06L 4000kv Brushless Inrunner?

I already ordered a new traxxas 2.4ghz radio system and receiver and am looking into possibly trying to run this boat on 2-4 cell lipo's.

Go to OFFSHOREELECTRICS.COM portal. They specially on anything electric and you can email them with the questions of setups you like. They can give you exactly what you need 'cause that's all they do.

Good lock. I bought same boat to my son when he started boating and racing. But after the ESC when bad (boat can now go in reverse only) [:@] the price of a new one was not worth the repair. ($180.00 + shipping). Well we move to gas boats now and have the Traxxas collecting dust in the garage. I still charge the 12 batteries packs that we have for the traxxas. Just to prevent them going bad.

I am getting ready to upgrade my old Villian IV with Valenion Brushless motors. Can you pass on any knowledge with the gears, etc....I am using the old stock drive shafts for now. Can you provide close ups of your receiver and esc set up.
Thanks in advance.
