hello again..i have a 38in outrigger.it has a way to extend the poontons,,what is the best to know how far apart to keep them..and also they can move about 1 1/2in back or forth help.the best way to set my boat up..yes i am kinda of a newbe on outriggers..any help will help thanks rick

Yeah, I noticed! First, call them sponsons as that's what we call those thingies.
Alrighty then, the next questions. What boat is it, that'll help a lot. Now, just an assumption, I'd guess that they're made of aluminum tubing. they should be equally apart on both sides but some people move the tub to the right a little, 3/8" or so to help keep the right one planted in the turns.

To further expand on Ron's comments,
if you can posts some pics, that would help quite a bit.
most riggers need more than just have the sponsons tubes even, most set up will require some toe in/or out and some shimming may be needed to have one side a bit higher than the other.

knowing exactly which rigger you have will help getting you the correct setup.
