Default Help with Identity

Hey Guys,
Just picked this hull up and have no idea who made it. Please help me out. It has a length about 40in and beam is 15-20in.

Thanks,
Bill

Any ideas on this hull fellow members? It has a vintage O.S. 46 VR-M, which has never been started . Will this engine push this hull?

The O.S. 46 VR-M will be plenty to run that hull, it has the size of a Sport-40 hull which uses that engine size in NAMBA/IMPBA Div-II class. Be nice on the engine, parts are virtually impossible to find now!

Coriolan, thanks for the info. I actually found that Hobbico is looking for vintage engines to possibly upgrade to newer version. Still waiting to here back from them.

Unless you plan on actually racing this engine will be adequate, unlike more recent OS engines it is a true ABC P/L so more durable than the newer .46/marine! What I meant on being nice is not to run it too lean or run full throttle when not in the water (like any boat engine for that matter). If it has never been run it should be OK and ready to go, the only thing that might be a problem is the condition of the ball bearings, but unlike other parts this can be found easily and replaced. If you're not used to IC boats there is good infos about high performances glow engines on the MECOA site(it is for K&B but it apply the same for any ABC engine):

Coriolan, thanks again for the info. This will be my first nitro boat in about 20yrs.
I will make sure to read up on running it before using it. Any suggestons on nitro fuel and glow plug needed for this engine?

Fuel isn't critical for fun running. 25% Nitro will give you plenty of speed for the $ (boat racing engine+pipe guzzle fuel like crazy!). As for glow plug a medium heat will do and last on that moderate nitro fuel %, It is important to have some castor instead of pure synthetic and 18<20% total oil content. Normal airplane fuel can be used but not fuel for car because they have very little oil %. If you can link up with a boat club in your area it will make things easier, IMPBA and NAMBA are the two main organisations in NA:
