One tip; use a regular ISP e-mail address, not a Yahoo!, G-mail or other one like that when trying to sign up as Tom, Julian or Don will automatically reject it to help keep Spammers out. Once you've got your foot in the door then you can change your address over to one of those accounts to get e-mail notifications to threads that you've subscribed to.
I don't know if telling Tom that Ron Olson sent you or not would help or keep you out!
