Set up the mould and pulled a soft cast - came out of the mould fine.
The new Bro is 425mm (17") tall from the bottom of the pod- 50 mm's (2"'s) taller
than the original Bro - has an all round bigger presence -

Howzit BC......shot for dropping in .....as you can see - I have been a busy lad !
The new Bro has been tested for self righting and outward centrifugal balance - all good - weight of new Bro just over 200 grams.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4qM...-eCEjP1qQh-aig
It definitely has a bigger / better presence on the board and draws a better scale ratio.
I will hopefully surf it in the week to 'Check it Out''where it really matters !
The 36 érs are coming along nicely - first builds require more prep work - jigs etc - so slower than expected . Still have to make the moulds for the 36" Bro - first wanted to check out the bigger 28" Bro. Have had allot of interest with regards these builds.
Happy that your Bro is still in one piece - they can take a punch !
STOKE !

It's Decal time - with the pigmented colour boards, the decals are added last, under a 4oz layer of cloth - before the clear filler coat is applied.

Surf Tested the 28" boards new Bigger Bro Dude !....Very Happy ! - in Windy / Bumpy surf conditions - perfect for testing - No adverse effects - board surfed well overall - proved to self right faster in the white water, which is an added bonus - the size surfer/board ratio is more to scale and Bro is more present visually on the wave - Awesome !

Been running this motor for close to two years now - amazing how well they hold up to the
environment we have them operating in - A very simple maintenance procedure required every
now and again is to change the bearings - a noisy motor or shaft with play in it is a sure sign that
the bearings need a change - all of a 15 minute process at a $5 cost - left for to long and you will
destroy the motor. Once done - it is as good as new !

Big Bro surfer dude template shaped to create the 3D core mould for the 36" board - up straight the BroDude is 65cm's tall - positioned in the satnce BroDude stands 54cm's (22") tall from the hatch cover surface and 62 cm's (25") from bottom of the pod.
Scale proportion looks great !......going to need a big barrel to cover this bad boy over !

Lipo Fire alert ! - received this (sad) mail from a mate in OZ - lets not forget how dangerous / damaging the lipo batteries can be !!!
as with myself - Chris also had a Lipo burn out - he was not as fortunate as I was !....lost everything !
hi dominic its chris from south coast of oz have some sad news about bro he was caught up in a lipo shed fire that gutted my whole hobby shed in less then ten minutes destroying six years of obsessive compulsive rc building ):
bro was a surfing legend in these parts of the world and will be sadly missed . just wondering if you can send me an invoice for my insurance claim as evidence of purchase as well as putting me in the in line for a new build very keen to see new larger bro in action might go that way interested in your thoughts once you finish and test . had many great sessions with bro with him out surfing most of the locals most of the time ! bro himself was unbelievably tuff handling many a heavy close out shore dump with ease and always coming back for more . i was charging a six cell 5000mah battery for my newly built eflight beast got complacent from 5 years of trouble free charging left for no more then ten minutes come back to raging flames and exploding lipos . oh well i guess i learned a lesson the hard way now it is a very nervous wait for assessors and investigators to finish there job and hopefully pay me my loses any way looking forward to putting this mess behind and getting in to some new extreme rc !! cheers chris =
Safe measure:
Use an old ammo box - cheap wall safe - steel tool box - or sorts - to charge and transport lipo batteries - since my incident I have had folk share with me that they have had lipo's going off after use - even in the back of the vehicle - treat the lipo battery with RESPECT as if it is a small bomb - it has the potential to do serious damage !!!!

Big Bro's Flexible Core:
Once the 3D mould is made from the initial template, it is position on a stand for better handling and then prepared with a wax / PVA release system. Several layers of glass fibre woven cloth and uni-direction carbon fibre lengths are prepared to be laid up on the mould to be saturated and cured in an epoxy resin. Once laid up - excess epoxy is dabbed from the layup with a paper towel to eliminate excess weight, before the product is placed within a heated box, so as to ensure good curing for maximum strength.
