Shaping and Glassing the POD on !...a very important part of the hulls performance - the shape /position / volume - effects the boards overall performance tremendously ....being the main part flowing through the water and displacing the hull.....several tapering laminated layers make up the POD's strength.

First filler flow coat applied to the hull to fill in cloth weave and smooth out lamination layers.....sanded to establish a smooth surface once cured. The tape around the edge is known as a skirt - prevents the resin flowing to the opposite side.
Working with accurate levels is important to maintain accurate rocker requirements...

Rudder tube installation - requires good strength /anchorage....brass tube is held in position using a basic Jig- floating it within a larger diameter hole- so that he epoxy can flow liberally around the brass tube in its full length- as well as saturate into the foam...the glass layers and flow-coats applied around the brass tube add further strength.

Hi Dominc, would you mind sharing the brand of the epoxy that you use for the Rudder tube installation? Is it West System G-Flex?
As usual....thanks for keeping me updated with the build

36"progress...
Finally received the brush-less motors for the 36" boards ......that sure was a 'slow boat ' from China - they may make things fast - but the shipping can be real slow !....lol...the entire drive shaft hardware is hand made to ensure ideal accuracy and balance/trueness... it is a relatively simple yet proven to be robust and easily serviceable design

Note the epoxy surrounding the brass tube ensuring a good strong bond.
Further filler coats well around the extending brass tube adding more strength.
Final colour coat applied to the deck...before decals and clear coat..
A Trio of Bro rc Surfers coming up !...busy day in the workshop !...

36" boards Motor mount plates and Battery platform (pod rib) hand manufactured and installed. Absolute accuracy is required to ensure true running of the drive shaft. Placing the motor as deep into the Pod as possible affords for a low thrust angle - limiting the tendency of nose lift which could cause excessive hopping/porpoising.....

Once the motor mount plate is bonded/cured - the drive shaft housing and stuffing tube can be permanently bonded in place at the end of the POD. Only the S/S portion of the Drive shaft housing is permanently bonded so that the stuffing tube can be replaced if damaged / worn. It is first tacked in place with a smidgen of quick set epoxy to ensure true alignment before the final epoxy fill is poured.

I do recommend one starts with the 3s set up - 27mm prop - 7 degree timing - it's smother on the throttle and easier to surf.

Hi Brosurfer Dom, just dropping in for another quick squiz on whats happening SA way.
Last time i mentioned my flexybro rider was going well on my board (still is ) but am thinking of making another board to slightly modify some things rather than cut up or modify what is working ok atm...
Have noticed most of your recent vids are of the SUP 28 board with new shape flexybro.
Was wondering if you could give any insight into the differences between the Original, Floater and SUP shapes when surfing, like the pro's n con's of each shape regarding handling, planing, turning or even what waves each shape would be more suited for and/or cruising or slashing riding...?
Not askin for secret hull descriptions (would be happy to hear any but.. haha) just some general thoughts.
Anyway, all seems good bro camp, look fwd to seeing the big ones goin soon.
bc
