Whats the thrill?

RE: Whats the thrill?
Mark is right about the people. At one race, I had nothing but problems all day long with a relatively new boat. My 12-volt starter wasn't up to the job (that's now been taken care of with 24 volts and a Model 4). Other racers came quickly to my rescue to get me out on the water. Myself and they would rather beat me out on the water than in the pits. We understand that a lot of us will think nothing of driving 100+ miles to go race (which I have to do) and get there to have problems and not be able to hit the water. My toolboxes are open to anyone who needs something that I have. I think that one racer sets up right next to me just because he knows that he can hit me up for stuff!

I have been a model boater for over 45 years and I have to say that see the changes in equipment and the reduction in the cost for fully proportional radio controled equipment , the first time modeler be he the pilot of his first airplane, car, boat, or submarine, it has never been easyer to enter the world of R/C modeler. I started with airplanes in the beginings of radio control, which after my first crash led me to scale model boating, then nitro boating, gas boating, and then fast electrics. All venues were and still are exciting and best of all was the chance to meet and make lasting friendships with fellow model boaters. As everyone before me in reply to your question stated, "TRY IT- YOU'll LIKE IT"

It's a wonder that 69 dart didn't show this shot of a bunch of riff-raff...........
The ones known in here are me, fifth from the left, 69 dart is second from the right and ob nut next to him on the right end. Far left is George Dalecki, former record holder for FE boats at our annual get-together.

RE: Whats the thrill?
Ron, I think that it may be the sun reflecting off of my DOME.
To me the thrill is putting a boat together, doing the mods my self and then running it to see the improvement ( if any ). Also letting my wife drive the big boat while I drive the little one all the way around our lake, and hoping she can stay up with me !
MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL
