RE: Anyone know of a source for mini bus bars?
In France Legrand make a push in connector for house wiring junctions. Available in several sizes and for joining 3 or 5 wires. If the wire is not rigid it should be soldered to enable it to be pushed in. Connectors work well - and disconnect when you want. Very compact, as long as you don't want a fixed set of terminals as in your photo.
Possibly something similar from car accessory shops, but those I've seen are a one way trip.

Flabum: that is a terminal strip. Terminal blocks are the same. I have those. I need a bus bar. But thanks!
Tug Guy: rat shack does not show anything on their website. They have basically dropped out of the electronic parts market anyway.
expat: I will check out Legrand. Thanks for the lead.

Kmot,
Try Hosfelt.com They have barrier blocks that work very well. I have used them in various sizes and use crimp ring connectors to fasten the wires to the contacts on the blocks.

Kmot I totally don't understand how these are used in a model boat. Would you enlighten someone less knowledgeable? I thought a terminal strip was the same thing?

He is looking for something that is sub-miniature which is hard to find. I have not found anything like what he wants on the web, the part I posted is small and I figured he could just solder a piece of wire across the terminals, but obviously, he wants something more professional looking. All the bus bars I have found use # 8 or bigger screws, bet he wants something with # 4 screws. It can easily be made with a length of eigth inch brass bar fom the hobby shop and a small tap.

Perhaps he is wiring lights?

Okay fella's, I had to make my own. Spent the afternoon doing it which I would rather have worked on something else.
I initially purchased Terminal Strips/Blocks and nearly had hooked it up to my equipment before it dawned on me what a disaster that would have been! I realized, fortunately, that what I needed was bus bars and so did not apply power and fry my electronics! [X(]
The reason I am using a bus bar is so I can power it up with the battery and then plug the various electronics into it. That makes it easy to remove electronics when necessary. Attached pictures show the bus bars. I made them from oak wood, aluminum sheet, stainless steel screws, and plain steel nuts. I had to meaure, cut, drill, radius, sand, etc. So now you know why I wanted some store bought versions.
In the pics you can see my electronics as they will be layed out in the boat. The open connectors shown, will be connected to a battery source and the JJC sound module.
Thanks for all the leads!

come to think of it, I thought you wanted something smaller. West Marine has a brass one with #10 screws similar to the size you built. The one you built looks superb.....very professional.

Tug Guy.
Terminal strips will do the same thing. with 1 side using jumpers going in and out of each terminal.
The Euro type strips have complete plastic insulation over all the metal terminal parts to prevent shorts.
2 strips are normally used. There are also fused terminal strips.
It comes down to what your eyes like better.

Thank you for keeping from thinking I was going crazy. Your description is how I used them on a very large Puffer. It confused me as how the bus bar was any different from the terminal strip with jumpers. I am too old to be confused this badly.

Kmot maybe this will help. Look for the 8 position jumper. There is also a 5 position jumper.
