1st wave got punished on the rocks, was very lucky just to get my board back let alone only having the rudder and prop smashed off, so lucky it got washed in between some gnarly rocks after the initial pounding took the rudder and prop off ,thought the hull would be smashed open and filled with water. should teach me a lesson about gettin one last turn before pulling off a wave on a rocky break. lol. not the best start to the day only got thru .04v hahahaha ill be back!

hope you guys are gettin some

Smash 'em up Crew,

Sorry to here about all your damage.

I went for a drive around various beaches this morning for an hour but did not send the Dude out.
Tide is so high at the moment, there is a stack of swell on but the waves look a bit sloppy and very average.
I bet it will be a lot better about lunchtime when the tide drops.
That's what happened yesterday.
On the way to work at 10:30 it was starting to clean up and look real nice.

Maybe I will get a run tomorrow at around lunchtime.

Sea ya.

hey fellas

took it out for its first spin.....no good

bad things = lil bit of water intrusion inside compartment which necked my servo. motor was bit slow.
Good things= everything else ran spot on, was not one single drop of water inside the hull and the fiberglassed bolt towers held up nicely.

lol these lil buggers can be frustrating thats for sure!!

Hey RC Dudettes,

Been adding to my Kyosho collection.

My second RC Surfer kit arrived today from Michigan.
It was wrapped inside a big brown box that had "Made In China" written on it.
I freaked and thought I had been scammed and sent a NOT QUITE DRY.
So I rushed to the car and quickly opened the box.
Inside was the Real Thing in the original box.
Stoked!

I have also contacted a guy with an Original Kiosho Lisa NIB too.
Waiting on postage cost on that one.

Oh yeah, I have another "Kyosho Lisa" in the mail.
That one has been used a bit but is stock and in the original box and in great condition.

Had enough of the Chinese hulls and still no word from Brendon on the new Wombarra model.
So as my current Kyosho Lisa with Dude is such a nice board to operate I just had to get a couple more.

Crazy I know, but why play Squires when you could be playing Strats???

Sea ya.

jimi

you must be rich buying all these kyosho's! i cant find one cheap enough.ill be holding out till wombarra brings a new model out. hopefully the fly out the door and give the sport a good kick.

when i first seen these surfers it was sebs board that caught my eye tho,the performance and the pounding that thing takes is one of the reasons why i have stuck with Not Quite Dry boards becuase i know they can run flawlessly if they are built properly and for a very low cost.

i should not have sold my 2s board the thing was running flawless :-(

fish

yeah your right man i think ill bolt my 2300kv in...hows the run times going with yours?

well im off to catch waves!! its 1-2ft glassy and offshore!!

Cananzi,

Yeah, I agree that Seb has proven once and for all that NQD can be made to take the worst of the punishment and keep getting up again.
As you know, I have had a few NQD's running quite well too. (They all ended up in the bin)

Yeah they are cheap, and that is great cause you don't have to worry too much when you start hacking away, if you **** something up at least it is only about $100 to start again, so from that perspective they are great.

What I like about the Kyosho Lisa is the minimum fuss needed to get it watertight and the plastic is different.
Just a better quality board, and they don't need any extra ballast underneath even with a carbon epoxy covered Dude.

The longer time goes on the rarer these things get so of course the price is rediculous,
my NIB RC Surfers and Lisa boards will probably stay just that and be stashed for the future.

The used Lisa's will be my main boards for the forseable future.

Until Wombarra kicks in???

Ya know how people ask at every session, "Where did you get that?" and "How much?"
I just say $100 on ebay and leave it at that, otherwise they just waste your shredding time.

Good to hear you are back in action.

Sea ya.

Hey Guys,
Bob just sent me these picks.
This is a little reef on the south side of "Point Moore" it is called "Greys Reef"
I slept in cause I didn;t think he could make it.
Well he emailed me at 6:55am and said to meet him there.
We have been waiting for this one to fie up because it only happens on a big swell and RARE north wind.
So it looks like I really screwed up sleeping in.
I just rang him and said I might be able to get down there after lunch.
The tide is dropping so I might be too late.
Spewing I was not there earlier.
Just look how square this little wave is!

Sea ya.

cananzi im only using a 3000mah 40c 3s and getting around 10 mins i think but havnt timed it to be honest. its not very good but ive only got that batt and one 3000mah 4s 20c that i use with throttle set at 80% which i get a few more minutes out of.

got a run in this morning, the surf was alot smaller than yesterday but heaps cleaner and surfable, got some nice waves but was mainly doing abit of testing adding some weight to get the balance right. i didnt think the new shaft angle was much good untill i added some weight to the nose, now it handles alot more speed than it did before when it would just bounce crazy and go outta control, ive never got out the back quicker. still got more to do as doesnt seem to turn aswell as before. will be stoked if i can get her turning well, doesnt seem to lean over in the turn like it used too, anyone got any ideas.

jimi those waves look sick, i hope your getting barrelled crazy.

spewing no news from wombarra that sucks.

man you guys have the best waves over wa!!! we get nothing that even comes close to that for rc surfers unless i went onto a main point over here.

fish

i timed my run time today with the 2300kv, 60amp esc ,34mm prop and 5000mah 3s 25c and got just under 21mins,that was with medioca useage .im pretty happy with that for now.
I found why i copped water too!!! there was a tiny lil dot of resin where the rim is above the deck seal and it was stopping the lid from pushing down on the seals properly. thank ****!! because i was baffled to where it was getting in.lol

the board ran well this arvy i think im almost there!! i copied the same as my 2s but compensated for the weight of the 3s lipo and it seems to be handling very simular to my old 2s board.

we got a few days of offshore winds on the horizon so hopefully will get footage up of the new girl...... or as my mates call her '' S......L.....U....T'' because everyone gets a turn of her ...lol

cananzi 21 mins is sweet i reckon, good to hear your board is goin good. those 60 amp esc's must be good , when i put the watt meter on my 2300 on 3s with 32mm prop peak amps was 89, no idea what average would be. peak would be on initial take off while accellerating hard, and you would be drawing more amps on the 34mm prop too. does your esc or batt get hot?

G'day guys,

Well, we went to "Greys" and had a run for 2 packs.
Missed the best of it and it was difficult navigation.
The wind started to come in westerly and mess it up a bit.
But we did get a couple of cool pics.
This little reef has a lot of potential but very rare.
This was our first time there.

Here they are then!!!

awsome lil peaks!!
fish
i was a lil worried about heat issues butkept checking it after each run andeverything seems fine. its probly pulling more then 60amps tho.

funny enough i was running the lapord hobby motor on one of these 60 amp turnigy escs and esc wasnt hot at all but the lipo was warm but hardly enough to feel it.
might have to buy a 120 to be safe.lol

id almost guarentee your pulling more than 60 amps but its probly only for very short burst and thats why its fine.
whatever motor it will only pull whatever amps you ask it too because of prop size so leopard motor was probly doing same amps as other just it will handle alot more amps/bigger prop.

i was thinking today how sick it would be if we could all get together for a slash, so when i win the lotto i'm gonna shout us all a trip to visit john and co. in maui. lol. and while im dreaming i,ll get him build us all a custom each ready for when we arrive! lol i better go buy a lotto ticket.

if you guys ever need some lead like i did today, a good place to get some is up on your roof, managed to trim enough flashing for what i need and not affect the roof. its alot cheaper than having to buy a massive piece at bunnings and alot easier then hammering sinkers into shape. i'd wanted some for ages and saw it up there today when i was helping the foxtel guy. lead at bunnings $$$$ lead off your roof priceless!

happy surfing

RC Geeks,

Bob and I are planning on hittin' it again in the morning. (If I wake up)
Luckily, Gero is built on a large point and has sandy bays and little reefs facing in all directions so we have tons of little spots to check out.
I reckon most RC Surfer operators would love living here.

G'day Micro-Shredders,

Here's a couple of pics from today.
I think he took a couple of hundred pics so I hope he finds a few sick ones.
Bob timed the first pack at 26min runtime, but there was a bit of waiting for the sets.
Pretty sure we are averaging 20+
I am happy with that.
