Thanks Justin, sunny and warm, man was cold and sucky all day here!

Hey, those jet drives look interesting!
Wondering how they would work with using only rudder for steering, not turn the drive...

Cut out some longboard templates today, 36" long and about 9" wide, made a rocker template I like, may skinny up the plan shape a bit....

Hoping to get some blue foam and stringer materials tomorrow along with my nose walking track for the figure!!!

A little more design work to do but about ready to laminate the blank!!

Jet drives are not very efficient and kind of bulky but if you build a bigger hull, like you guys are, then you can use a bigger motor and batteries so it may work out, but you have no steering when off power so a rudder like Saildoggie suggests is a good idea.

It needs 2 rudders, one on each side of the jet, and yes there is no need for the jet orientation thing.

Ideally the bottom hull should be re-design to allow for better flow.

I agree on the efficiency issue, it is also prone to cavitation if they are rev to high, but as seen on some of the youtube vids they can be really fast.

Hugh's weekend report from Maui: 20 foot waves over last 3 days.
Fri - Pinetrees with John & Jock 3ft-6ft, ok until wind came up - then kart practice at night.
Sat - 4 hours rc great surfing in Paia Bay 4ft - 6ft, - then off to Hi Sate Go Kart Champs - 125cc Shifter Class, qualified 12th 4th place finish, (see picture)
Sun - 3 hours with John in Paia Bay 2ft-4ft - lots of hot surfer girls for distraction.
John took pictures with Canon 60D 200mm L lens with x2 converter.
Will post pictures of John's red fish after golf tomorrow.
Incredible 3 days of Maui winter waves

Melekalikimaka from Maui,

John your Hawaiian figure is best yet, love the Chaka sign on right hand.

Loaded up 3 of my boards with new long distance receivers, they are ready for the next swell

My new Stealth Swallow got its clear coat for Xmas, next in goes the hardware.

Let 2012 be the year of the custom builds - I challenge each of you to make a custom board in 2012

See you at the beach!

Hugh
