I Mentioned Global Exposure for The Rc Surfer (With ASP Tour). And you were not interested, You Took The opinion it was not wise, and what would we gain ?

Now You Mention You PERSONALLY Have an Offer for National Exposure ? I don't get it ...

I have a very exiting offer on the table at the moment that will push Bro's exposure nationally....!!!!!..one 'wave' at a time...........

As for the ASP......I reckon that event is best left for the Pro's......as Kite questions......what would we hope to gain ?

Howzit Doc....
Thanks for sending the local inquiry........I have sent a mail through, will keep you posted.
As for the 'confusion' with regards to a my 'National Exposure'......
IMO - showing off a ******** at a ASP event - firstly - would cost myself a reasonable amount of $'s to travel there /stay there/ down production time.......( at a loss before I've started)...
I also doubt very much whether Bro would make much of an impression on folk coming to see the likes of Kelly Slater surfing say 15ft (real size) Super Tubes.....LOL - simply put - Pro Surfing and Pro Surfers is the focus at those events !............I reckon I would spend more time entertaining the kids.......
The offer I shared is possibly partnering with a Top SA Surf Magazine.....more as a marketing tool.......hence the Bro national exposure.
I have also approached a few energy drink brands and the like to use Bro in ads etc........I have done quite a bit of work in ads and film with my rc boats......I did 'Shark attack 2' a while back with some of my small rc boats).......its great fun...........
Direct ******** sales really does not have 'big business potential'.....locally- I am hoping to initiate a ******** following in SA to share the STOKE with others who are like minded.......Our actual market potential in SA is minute....compared to say the USA.
As it is - I am only able to ' hand make' about four boards a month at best, in between my other F1 boat production and teaching.....
AND - lets not forget why we do this.................To rcSURF......
Hope that explains it..................

RE: RC Surfer
Paia Bay Tuesday offered 4-6ft wave faces (with slightly larger sets), more lined up than the last 2 days.
Tita with keel - 3 batteries
Tita with Vee - 3 batteries, but had to stop after she developed crushed rib cage and cracked right leg - now fixed for Wed session.
Silver Surfer - 2 batteries, but filled engine compartment with 2nd battery (my fault due to plumbing tube not connected after I made minor adjustment).
Silver Surfer was running at least 15 minutes, sucking in water all the time - which means my Leopard 4082 motor, 200amp esc, Airtronics 92744 receiver & Hitec digital servo were actually running while being totally submerged inside the hull. Unreal.
Washed all with fresh water, cleaned all, oiled and now working - ready for Wed session.
Here are 2 pictures from today showing broken Tita on Vee hull.

Howzit Hugh...........you are having a JAWS week......Go Big or Stay Home attitude .....Respect !........trust you had some great waves that made it all worth while...
Back to Shaping....
I really enjoy pulling a board out of a block of foam.........its maternal......LOL
This 80kg/m cubed foam is great to shape.....much stiffer....better to work with.
Nice 50/50 rails upfront leading down to sharp tail rails.....flat bottom.
Healthy 'nose rocker' for climbing over the white water and turning in the hollow face.
This foam board ( blank) came in at 325 grams shaped - as apposed to the 200 grams using surfboard foam...

RE: RC Surfer
I had my rc sufer out over the weekend. Again it was a big hit on the beach. Every time I hit the water I learn more how to control it. The surface is dynamic and planning out your next move is so much fun. I found I can out run waves and not get crushed if its not the right wave. Jumping is always big hit with the sun bathers. But riding in just the right wave and then cutting back before it caves in is the best. Its a REAL learning experience!

Howzit Powerpark........great to hear you are enjoying your ********......as you say -it is really quite a challenge 'pulling off' a few good moves.....so many variables.....timming is everything...YEAH !....it feels 'great' when it all comes together.......
Talking about TIMMING.....I literally had 20 minutes between two appointments this afternoon....had a real fun 1-2ft face - 15 minute - 'quick' session.....'just made the second meeting'.....LOL (with sand in my socks !).....feeling STOKED !

We're heading up the East Coast this weekend for the Annual Whale Festival, held in Hermanus .....hopefully we can end Bro's Aug/Sept Video collection with some great East Coast Surf.....

YPC You have the best videos. Enjoyed watching them. I raced all kinds of rc cars and I have to say rc surfing is in the top 2.
I wonder if you can race these things? That would be really cool.

Howzit Powerpark......thanks for the 'thumbs up on the videos......its great to know others are enjoying them. It was one of Reece's original video's that got me hooked on rcSurfing, so I do hope mine have a similar impact on some. I am trying to establish rcSurfing in SA........personally, I have never seen another ******** in the surf in SA, so I have a ways to go....
As you , I have raced plenty of rc ......BUT.....what I really enjoy about the rcSurfing most is the 'spontaneous' opportunity it offers to enjoy it most anytime...like yesterday between commitments... I could have a quick session....and get stoked.
With any racing.....one has to wait for the arranged day to participate.....depend on others to participate.....have the neccesary racing committee, course and rules in place....plenty of hard work........and it will steal the cool relaxed stoke rcSurfing offers me............I'm way to competitive to 'enjoy racing'.......I never race to have fun, I always race to WIN !........LOL
Comparing the investment usage return of a ******** to say a rc Racing boat - in the past two months I have used my Bro ******** 20 times, an average total of 120 uses per year - last year I raced my rc Gas F1 boat only 10 times for the entire year..........1/12 the usage potential.....if one drew a bar chart comparing the $ cost/usage - rcSurfing comes out 'wave' tops !......

RE: RC Surfer
Oh yea I agree Im getting a lot of bang for the buck with my surfer. And the best of all there is no wear. Maybe need to replace the batterys once a year. Maybe not with lipos. Im getting a good twenty minutes of run time. I have 5 packs , Plenty for a good day at the beach. I met some real surfers at the beach and they thought it was SICK. Lots of thumbs up! I got my money out of it already! Can say enough about it.
RC surfing , miles of smiles at the beach. Its was a good summer!

RE: RC Surfer
Thursday - Maui report:
South swell was supposed to be bigger than it was. Maybe Friday will be bigger
Hugh did 2 bricks with Tita/keel 28" board - guess I did not impress John & Jock, as they did'nt even go out!
On way home went by Hay Park and got off 5 bricks with Silver Surfer on 3-4 foot waves - small & fast!
My flodded Leopard motor & inside gear all worked great.
I did not have anyone to take pictures - so I took a few pictures of waves without rc surfers anyways - almost refreshing seeing 'virgin waves'.....

RE: RC Surfer
Hugh's Maui report for Friday - south swell was great today with John, Jock & Hugh at Hay Park.
It really turned on with 3-5ft very fast hollow tubes for our first 2 or 3 battery packs - Jock was taking videos with John's Sony and he must have some unreal footage that I hope he posts for all to seeeeeeeee.
I took a few snaps with my Cannon - but the waves had dropped (low tide) - so the waves shown are quite small (3ft)

RE: RC Surfer
Hey thanks guys for the charging info. I was charging my lipos at a full charge and not using them for a few weeks. They still seem to be ok.
I have a team checkpoint charger. Its a good charger. It can charge up to 10 amps. I am charging a 6 amps. Im using 3300 mha 7.2 volts 2 cell.
I balance the packs after charging them. They put out great power and run a long time. For twenty bucks a pack they are a great deal.

RE: RC Surfer
Hugh reporting from Maui:
I managed to put in 8 days in a row of some almost perfect rc surfing on Maui's North & South Shores.
I averaged 5 bricks a day, using 4 different models - all in a wide variety of conditions.
Huge winter beach breaks, with hard thumpers all over the place and even some spectacular rides/wipeouts!
Shallow southern sent waves, fast, hollow and sometimes makeable.
Maui's shores delivered all last week and promises of same the week coming.
I have 8 days commercial shoot starting Monday - so the toys get a well earned rest.....here are some empty waves for those dreamers out there.

Howzit Guys !.......great to 'sea' Maui is delivering again....... awesome to 'sea' the Maui Boyz back 'at work' .........looking forward to the video Jock ! Thanks for sharing the STOKE with us Hugh...those waves are very inviting.........take care on set !
As the old saying goes !......."you can plan life all you like.....then best be ready to live it !........ I planned to (hoped to) have a awesome rcSurfing session up the East Coast this weekend...BUT.....it was not to be....not a ride-able wave in sight..........just Whales and more Whales ...........all of 122 whales pulled into Hermanus for the festival weekend...........LOL - never the less - we had a WHALE of a time......
On the way home....out of sheer desperation, we stopped on the coast road not far from home, at Cemetry beach ( the home of the Great White)...for a brief rcSurfing session. Howling on-shore South Easter.....not the best of surf....but...I was desperate to get video #20 under the belt and DONE !.....even in the sloppiest of waves, rcSurfing still seems to deliver some of that surfing STOKE !.......

RE: RC Surfer
YPC Wow Very cool video. You get some big air and cool moves with that board. Man that thing is fast. I was out with my surfer over the weekend. And I realized that we get max run time surfing our boards. I mean vs running a car on a track it can get hung up and you have to stop , walk over and right the car. RC surfing the board rights its self and the action keeps going. How much run time are you getting on a pack? And what cells are you running?

RE: RC Surfer
Howzit PowerPark...
The onshore wind in the above video was so strong at times it would 'blow' my board forward of the wave wen I jumped.
The board is pretty quick. I am running the motor on 3.5 degrees timing....
Even when one compares rcSurfing to rc Boating, I have to agree, it is way more 'convenient- to date I have not had to 'recover my board'
Run times can be like 'the length of a piece of string'.....depending on ones surfing/ridding style, surf conditions and water temperature...I run 'on average 15 - 20 minutes.
I use 5800mAh 3s packs.
