Kinda Quiet in here ?

I'll share a bit of Board Progress. Working on a custom figure next. Been test running the boards with Dude just to get an idea.
The hull ran well.

Inside shows a Ni-mh Battery. Just My preference. I like the weight and how they perform.
Note: The new board can Run Li-po as swell. plenty of room for different motor, ESC, Servo, RX, battery or prop sizes ...

John,

Your new board is KILLER. I love the new servo placement and very straight linkage to the fin.
The new rear deck treatment is very clean and simple. I may have to add your latest to my quiver of MauiJohn masterpieces!!!!!

Looking forward to your visit to San Clemente..... Let's charge em'up and go out.

I love the feel of a new board...

The R&D Continues...the Quest for the Ultimate Surfer Still burns Hot!

Year2 board 1...My Maui PinTail

34 inches 11 wide, Twin Fin

7.6 lbs RTS (my lightest to date...a little disappointed I must admit...I was shooting for the 6.85 lbs my Maui******** weighs RTS)

Did not have to add any extra weight this time...zero...new one for me.

Leopard 3665-B-2300kv, Aero coupler, .150 flex cable, Swordfish 120A Esc, Futuba BLS 451, and Airtronics MX-3X

I wanted to use a new L shaped connector...made a few...but did not turn out strong enough.

For now, I went back to 'ugly...but bomber'.....got my 'guy' on the new ones...

You may have noticed...Melika be missing her head...

I knocked off my MAui Surfers' Head last week...boy was it light!

0.70 oz to be exact

I wondered how much Melikas' head weighed with all that beautiful hair, so I cut it off with a big 'ol saw....

3.5 oz !!!

That much weight that far away from the waterline...I can only imagine how much extra weight I added to the keel to get her to upright on her own

For now she will remain Headless....it is Halloween anyways...

"Live like Jay" True life Story about Jay Moriarity.
His story goes out this Friday on the big screen, Called "Chasing Mavericks"
Mavericks is The Big Wave Spot Jeff Clark Discovered In Northern California and Surfed it alone for years .
Shark infested, Freezing cold water, long paddle out, Only breaks when it's HUGE...

(2) Full- on Top Hawaiian HARDCORE Surfers lost their lives there.
I hope there is credits on the movie for Mark Foo and Sion Milosky R.I.P.

Cool its coming out soon!

I remember reading about Gerard Butler's accident.

http://content.usatoday.com/communit...1#.UIYjzW_yp8E

I remember reading that there was another accident before this one involving the film boat...Mavericks is the real deal!

Movie should be great.

Hey Curls.......progress !......well done !...good to hear you have 'got it wet'......love to 'sea' a running board and some video footage.

As MJ mentioned 'very different shape' to the NQD........could you take a TOP VIEW photo of your board placed next to a NQD - just to show how different the size and lines are.

Thanks Mate.......keep it going....any thought on prices ?

Yes, It is Exciting, Been working with my team on this for months.
I won't take any credit for the actual build regarding Foam shape / glass. I have pro guys that handle that. By The Way, R.I.P. Donald Takayama (He is Legend)
I mentioned years ago, I couldn't glass a glass. I'm just supporting the project and have the final say on what direction we go.
The Team Goal is to have the hulls / lid / figure made locally, supporting local suppliers and workers.

The only thing I have to import is the Elecs at this time. Sorry YPC, I don't stock China Hulls anymore, It's against the Team Rule
So a comparison pic is not available.

This board is a prototype to get an idea of what is involved to make one, The Hull was designed with
What I liked about the production boards, and what I didn't. For Example the drop tail / exposed rudder
was from Maui John, I bought the DVD years ago when it came out ...

The motor Cavity was dropped further down, the Deck lid was shifted more toward the nose
The shaft housing was enlarged, the pod was smoothed out to name a few .

This board is 26" x 6.5" , just as a starting point.

Here is a pic of the bottom, that still needed sanding from the Laminate lay up.

Hey Curls.....

So taking what you are saying- looking at the boards 'bottom- comparing the specified sizes....'its a reproduction' of the 'production boards' with a few minor changes.....was that the 'Mystery?'

YPC:

My United States Build Team looked at what worked and what didn't. All production models had their flaws ...
With The Knowledge We gained over the YEARS, We looked at that info along with Much Consumer Feedback to Aid in making the perfect Hull.

It was MAJOR changes in the scope of things. Now We have a Strong and solid glassed board.
with enhancements and a top performance board without the previous Fail issues of any Production Board.

We don't claim that we Re-invented "The Wheel" , We Simply Perfected it ...

The Mystery is the Fun / More STOKE To Come

Hey Curls........'perfect hull'......'top performance board'............... 'simply Perfected it'

All sounds 'amazing'.......when do we get to 'SEA' this 'Top performing- simply perfected- reproduced production board' in action.?

Any Price & Availability 'predictions............Christmas is a 'coming'

I have a question to all those folks who own the production boards with the bottom decks that have crescent cutouts - as clearly seen in Surfcurls new production board.
What do the cutouts do?

Just a heads up - I have requested a NEW Category for the RC Surfers - should be a new tab between the General Discussion and the Airboat Categories.

With any luck this should be in place in the next couple of days.

This thread will then be moved into that category.

Hey JASTAWADA.........I would like you to 'openly state' just how I have infringed the forum rules in my recent post, as well as my past post you chose to remove.

What is wrong with inquiring and making fair comment ????????? .........this 225 page forum has been driven by a spirit of development - competition is healthy

Frankly .....I feel you are continually smothering our debate and not allowing this forum the room it deserves for folk to 'FREELY' express their point of view and opinions.

At no time have I been rude or insulting to any member of this forum.

I also feel that you do show bias...........

Here is my take..........If you cannot give a'convincing' detail in respect to the forum rules with regards to my so called infringement in my past two posts 'removed' then either reinstate them OR I will happily resign myself from what I will then believe to be a Biastly moderated forum.

The cut outs act as part of the displacement hull. Due to the size and depth of the board, I think it allows the board to have better response in turns and able to get back on plane after turns quicker. Just a guess, but it works well for this size of board, engineered from Japan.

This is so true and you will see more people wise up and move on over to RC Groups. It's pretty sad when your moderators need to be moderated.
