i would be looking more to something like this type of battery than the one you linked fish

http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...dProduct=14673

http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...dProduct=10100

http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...dProduct=14704

http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...dProduct=10302

http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...idProduct=9952

these are a few random ones i had a quick look at some are actually 4S 40 - 45 c

be careful but the 60 Amp esc Mite just die with this sort of Max current LMAO

or the boat will have way to much power

hi guys

rainer yeah i painted it. was bored. and wanted do a bit of practice before doin outside. as you can probably see i need it.

dan cheers man , im going mad trying to decide on batts motor esc start thinking one way search through all the batts then change mind search again and again.
was trying to keep the $$$$ down on batts to under $30ea. but will go bit more since getting your info, if i have to.

batt size L-145 n under w-53 max h-27 max (under 25 better this will be the most critical) mm.

my old 2s 5000mah 20c used to get pretty warm so now i realise why.

might just get the 120amp esc again its only 10 bucks more and not much different in size. and gives me more option like 4s

you said with that 4s might have to much current but wouldnt current be reduced since watts=amps X volts or is this another theory that in practice is not quite right

have really been thinkin about 4s setup with that would i still want 30c +

cheers again for all the help

jimi - gotta get onto some vid man i dont even care if it is dodgy quality, and thanks for all your help too.

Fish, The brand new cooling tunnel that I only put in 2 weeks ago is the culprit, it has started leaking around the port. (As they always do. It is nearly 3:30am and I am getting ready for another 1 foot offshore jam session. I have to rip the motor out and fix that before 6:30am when I hit the road. I have several other tunnels but geez they can be difficult to get off so

Hey guys,
I am just starting to use LiPo and have a little problem.
These little balance plugs are ******.
Does anyone know what I should use to clean the balance connectors with?
Mine do get a bit GREEN and then I have to fiddle around with them to try to get them to register on the balancer.
Are they easy to replace?
How do I do that?
I have one that I just can't even get to make contact now.
Hope you can advise me 'cause it is pissing me off and until I get a decent hull that stays dry they will only get worse.
I am trying to think of a little waterproof case to put them in while the board is in the sea, just in case.
Any ideas???

Sea ya.

hi jimi , i have had the same problem it is ****e, i have had some success with wd40 also i try to scratch off the green back to good metal with tiny screwdriver or similar but not much room

to change them to new one you would need to get new connectors and crimp a joiner bit onto each of the 3 wires then insert all 3 into sleeve cover bit.

or and i just tried this on a stuffed batt to see if can be done , remove the individual joiner bits from the housing to make cleaning easier

to do this you have push in the tabs you can see in the 3 slots on the side of connector not the holes in front. min took abit to push in, and just had to be pushed in in the middle then the individual connectors can slide out of housing, can do 1 at a time. then to put back make sure the tab is sitting up a bit again and slide back into the housing untill its in place and wont come out.

if you do this i would have a practice on a spare one if you have it. i did it on a batt that died after it went swimming
the tab is tint i used the side of very small flatblade screwdriver.
ill put photo up in a minute

on the yellow in the second shot you may just be able to see the tiny tab that needs to be pushed down to remove from housing. be careful if you do it not to snap it off.

also the bit it plugs to on charger can corode too so check that aswell.

good luck

couldnt find any individual connectors but you could use appropriate plug from this, just cut wires solder and shrinkwrap em.i know how you like to solder.

Thanks Fish,
I had a another great RC Surf this morning, 1 to 2 foot sets andnice left and right reforms.
The board absolutely shredded.
AMAZING!!!

When Dan was here I couldn't even get the board to run past the reform.
It was just cutting out, there is a surfclub complex directly on the hill behind where I have been going and I am starting to suspect that interference is coming from there.
Ever since I ordered the new digital radio this one has been performing flawlessly, so I just dunno.
I was sending it right out the back, catching a set wave and then shredding right into the shorie.

That is until EVERYTHINGCOOKED, lol.
You see, my board is such a tight fit and on the first pack the lid was not sitting properly and I just kinda forced it down.
BIGMISTAKE!!!
It ran perfectly and absolutely shredded, didn't miss a beat and I had a big grin from ear to ear.
Then came the moment of truth.
Time to change packs.
Well, I opened it expecting to see it drier than ever, boy was I mistaken.
There was aAquatic centrein there complete with water slide and toddler pool.
So I pulled out all the sponges, (I have heaps stuffed in everywhere) squeezed 'em all out and tipped the board up and poured the pool out.
Give it a quick wipe and loaded up again.
Came in second time and it was good, so I just resqueezed the last of the water out of the sponges and everything was going cool.
3rd pack, still carvin' the bags out of everything in sight, very fast and not playing up at all.
4th pack, half way through it stopped.
I retrieved the board and expected to see a broken cable on the propshaft but the motor was dead so I kinda knew.
The ****** water from the first pack had got into everything and had killed my morning of fun at the beach.
I quickly opened and there was no new water in but it was dead.
I played around with it a bit to see if I could get back out there.
Then I heard the crackling sound.
Everything was overheating as soon as I attached the battery.
I just got home and stripped and wiped the electronics.
Sprayed a bit of RP7 on everything.
I will let it dry out and do some tests tonight.
But I still have a grin from ear to ear because I now know how to make a "NOTQUITEDRY" really go off better than ever and I just wish I had some footage from this morning to post on here.
I know it would blow everyone on this forums minds.
Still so close but so far away and still runnin' "NOTQUITEDRY".
Far from it today,lol.

If I had just taken time to work out why the lid was not shutting down properly on the first run, oh well.

Sea ya.

oh no jimi i know the waterslide kid pool hull full of water feeling hopefully its just the reciever if anything is gonna die may aswell be something cheap.
how is the battery one of mine died from getting wet just one time,(same as your black turnigy 4000 but mine was a 5000) you will probably need to remove cover to clean it up good there is plenty in there that will corrode.

awesome to hear how happy you are with the way board is riding

hope i am as happy with mine when its done, then it will be on!

hope it dries happy for ya

have a good one

Alright Fish,

Good to hear thatyour gear is on its way bro.
This is the best hobby I could ever imagine.
Can't wait to see how the "Super Fish" and the "Icebreaker" perform.

If the Danburgerand I go for a RC Surf session together I will be keeping clear of his machine.
ll that CF Brick of his comes into contact with my board I think mine will get totally destroyed.

I think he is fitting SS battering rams on the bow and razor blades on therails too, lol.

Sea ya.

Question on 2.4 mhz Radio ?

Per Jimi "Ever since I ordered the new digital radio this one has been performing flawlessly,"

Have you Ran The 2.4 Mhz With no Outside Antenna yet ? Some Pilots in the past had bad reception with 2.4
Being that the antenna is inside the board, and actually had them lost at sea ???

Curlzy,

Sorry I didn't saythat part too well.
I have not got my new radio yet, it is in the post now.
I ordered it 2 days ago.
What I meant is, ever since I made the order my old Hitec has been crankin' like it usually does.
When Dan and Bob have been around it has played up.
Then when I am on my own it is anexceptionally good radio, as you know.
They are great and I love 'em but recently I have experience a strange lack of distance and cutting in and out.
I think it is interference from nearby.
I just wanted to try the digital one and see if it is any better at troublesome locations.

In answerr to your question.
When the new one arrives I will let you know what happens.
I do intend to try it with the little antenna under deck.
Mine won't get lost at sea, even if I have to go and get it bro.

Sea ya

Thanks For The Clarify ...

I was getting lost on The Fact That : Did U Install The 2.4 it or Is It The "Spell"
That Was Playing Trix .

Kinda like When A Car Has a Prob, Then one Goes To The Mechanic,
And The Car Roars Perfect ???

My Comment was just to be cautios of a possible loss of transmition
on the radio. Thats the word I got on the 2.4.

But Knowing You, A Paddle Out To Save Another Board
Especially (Your own ) Is Worth A Go Out ...

Hi Brett,

Bummer it didn't work like that.
The radio we got uses the same Rx.
So looks like we might need a short antenna after all.
But, I am pretty sure the Maui boards don't have one on deck.
What radio do they use, I wonder?
I guess we will just have to try it out and see what happens.
Sounds like I might be goin' swimmin'.

Hi Everyone

Its a mad house in here today

fish the 2.4 radio will work fine with a dig servo i have the same set up in a buggy and i have the Antenna inside the chase i did a test run on a road to see how far the range is on these's units we are talking about. The buggy was so far away i could not see to drive it.

It was well over 200 metres away

Jimi i have an idea about what you can do with your lipo Balance plugs let me do some research and i get back to you

Sounds like a fun new version of the sport i like it Battle surfing till the Last dude is standing lol you get points for the parts you cut off your enemy, Head, Arm, leg, and you only get points if you hit while you are in the air LMAO,

Ok time for dinner

Catch yar

I did the same test with my standard 27MHz TX/RX - but with another result:
Antenna inside an off road buggy > no problem
Antenna inside my Lisa's board - lost transmission after 4-5 meters.
An off road buggy normaly has arather thin and open car body.
Lisa's board is thicker and absolutely tight and hence shields the antenna way more!

us maui guys use 2.4 radio, ( the tower hobby one with no antena) and it is in side a sealed wood box, i get a 1/4 mile be for i lose transmisson, sometimes when it is deep under water it will lose transmisson for a short time, some of the realy good ones come with short antena . athough i like them . i like the fm radio because the range is up to 1 mile.

john maui

jimi if you go out really far and you lose transmisson hold hands high above head .or get up higher and it will come back,
