Hey Crew,
sounds like Dan's leaky tube has put him outta action for a littlewhile.
Gero surf is safe again.

Dan,
There was quite a bit of water in there yesterday, is your radio O.K.?

Ipaula,
If I was you, I would get a new 2.4Gh radio system from Hobbyking.
They ar cheap as chips and very reiable.
The range is incredible, Dan sent his board way out beyond the surf yesterday arvo and I reckon it could have kept going until you couldn't even see it anymore.

While your there, start thinking about what batteries you are gonna use.

Around thetop of thelittle hole inside the rudder hatch (Where the rudder shaft comes through) is a major leak in those NQD boards, check that.
If you get water into the hull that is probably where it will be getting in.
I have found that a wide SS washer epoxied over the hole completely stopped water entering the hull.

Yeah they are the 3 channel version but the display on the top makes it a lot more functional to adjust setting etc even if you don't use the 3rd channel

I was thinking of putting a swinging sword on mine to Kill Kyosho's quicker LOL make the 3rd channel swing the sword lol

No use for third channel but I like having the dual rate onthe throttle so I can turn it down to about 50 percent when my son is driving

When looking for new lipo's, what should I be looking for?  My current one is Rocket Pack 4000 7.4v 2S 1P 2 CELL 25C  Not sure exactly what all of this means. I understand some of it. Where can I make it better? Up the mAh? What is the 2S, 1P and 25C mean? What batteries are the best for the buck?

Sorry to be such a rc kook.

Hi Crew,
Took my little dog down to "Stockfence" this morning.
Didn't expect to get any waves 'till this arvo when the tide goes out, but there is a really nice little peak on the inside and Bob arrived so we sent the Dude out for a run.
While we were sitting on the beach having a relaxing little fun run, some people came walking along with about 4 dogs NOTONTHELEASH.
A couple of the dogsbounded over and while Bob and I scrambled to get off our butts and pickedup my little dog who was getting aggro, I turned around to see an even bigger dog about to eat my surfer which had washed right into the reefy shorline.
So I started to run down to scare the dog away before it ate my board.
I give it a bit of throttle and it headed back outand the dogwas now starting to swim after it.
That's when I noticed I had no steering, the Kyosho rudder had snapped off at the base.
Unlike the NQD rudders the Kyosho ones break really easily on the shore even in sand and this is lumpy bits of reef.
After several minutes I managed to get the board in without having to swim.
At least the Dog didn't get to sink his teeth into it.
Anyway, I came home and fitted the steel shaft modified NQD rudder that I had been using on my old board, just had to shave a couple of mm off the top of the shaft.
So it is ready to go again now., better than ever.
Bob is meeting me back there at 2:30 for another round.
Should be good on the lower tide.
Hope we get some more pics this arvo.

Here are a couple from this morning.

Sea ya.

RC Shred Crew,

Jimi Findrix was seen rippin' up "Inside Stockfence" again this afternoon.
ABSOLUTELYSHREDDIN" the place!

That other guy, what's his name? Oh yeah, ICEBURGER was nowhere to been seen.
We heard that the Ice has started to melt and the Burg is sinking fast.

Seriously, glad to hear you will be back on it in the morning bro, after all surfing with a friend is always more fun than on your own.
Even if he does DROP IN ONEVERY SET and threaten to destroy your new board.

Bob came down this arvo and took a few more pics.
I will post them as soon as they arrive in the mail.

New rudder went great and is much better than the stock one that got busted up this morning.

Sea ya.

JIMI

Ipaula IMHO get the most mahs and highest c rated batts that fit

2s means 2 cell 3 s 3 cell and so on

1p relates to howmany idividual cells in the bat 2s1p is 7.4v and has 2 cells in it
a 2s2p is still 7.4v but has 4 individual cells

25c is your batts discharge rate

multiply the c numbber by how many amps your batt is to work out max amp draw or discharge rate for that batt

therefore your 4000mah.- 4amp batt x 25c has 100amp max discharge limit
another example. 5000mah - 5amp x 40c has max discharge of 200amp

hope this helps
and remember everyone was an Rc kook so weare only pAssing on what has been passed on to us already
try hobbyking.com for radio and batts they are cheap and good and have a warehouse in the us
have a good one

Jimi cheers mate nice slash ended up making a single fin that is working really well with stuff I had laying around

Put my watt meter in the board today and got some interesting figures 3s 3000 40c batt was doing 89amps 957 watts

4s 3000 20c was doing 62 amps 914 watts

the 20c 4s did not perform aswell as the 3s. It could not deliver the amps

glad I got the 120amp esc

later

Hey Jimi,

you coming down to the fence in the morning if so what time

and fish the Max Current output on the 4s is not as good as your 3s if you do the Math you Max Current on that 4s is only 60 Amps anyway.

voltage diff between the 2 can make a big diff I have 2 sets of battery's 3s and 2s and both are 5200 ma and both 35C the 3s is very different to the 2s its like the 2s is standing still when i give it to it with the 3s and it has to much power makes the board roll.

but i will say if i look at run times i say they last about the same amount it just that the 3s is quicker.

But i tend to be a lot more trigger happy with the 3s i like speed

Jimi will post some pics when I get home and show ya how it was pretty easy

Dan wait till ya try 4s if ya hit jimis board you'll cut it in two 4s is fully sick bro lol

would like to try higher c rated 4s to compare but I think watts would end up same just amps would be less compared to 3s

was cool to get the actual readings amps watts volts while running

happy surfing guys
