yeah its shaped and glassed and had its keel on. just made the lid an hour ago and its drying. im really not being to fussy with this custom board first time round i just want to bulid one to get the feel of things then ill build again but its coming up pretty good so far. ive left the tail really fat so i can make a rudder compartment like the plastic boards.

man its a long process!!ill try post some pics tomorra

bobs a lucky man!!! wish it got like that here on the goldy

Hey i got a question, one of the chicks foot came off and i am thinking about epoxing it back to the board and putting a little extra on both feet to try to keep it more balanced

The original Surfer dude had a very stiff deck, all others need to stiffen the deck by grafite rod, tape (lamenate type) or cloth.
The doll needs the "O" ring system to keep brakage to a minimum.
When the doll gets hit by a wave sideways, it's enough force to lift the deckrail and let water in,
to check this simply hold the front of the board and push the doll over and watch the deck lid rail lift you'll see what
I'm talking about. After all this is what is going to happen in the surf! GaranteedLater Dudes. BB

I finally went for an RC Surf this weekend, Damn I forgot how much fun this is, especially on some clean waist height waves.

Bought some new props, shaft and motor (sounded a little rusty) and charging up the batteries to see if I can get another session this week : )

Wooo hooo!

Hi House Bra I would think that you have something binding. or the pushrod housingisnotsecured well enough Disconnect the pushrod from the servo arm and hold the servo arm andsee if you get proper movement when you turn thetransmiter wheel, and then. manuallypush and pullthe pushrod to see if it is working the rudder. Hold the rudder with your other hand andgiving some resistance .
Good Luck!!Aloha Karl

House Dude,

The stock NQD rudders are strong and work quite good but they ALWAYS get twisted.
This is because of the way that the arm fits on top of the shaft. (Cheap)
If you get washed up on the sand or do a big air and come down hard then the the rudder can often slip inside the arm.

This may not be the reason that you are having problems at the moment but it will be an issue.

Anyway, just unscrew the rudder and make sure the arm has not slipped.
Make sure your servo is centered when you screw every thing down secure.
Do the things Karl says and with a bit of testing you should be able to get it turning pretty evenly both ways.

Then hit some 2 - 3 foot offshore perfection, speed down the line and punch the lip just as it throws out.
Your machine will do some crazy rolling airs and sooner or later it will come down hard on the rudder and it will slip out of position.
Your board will start doing donuts and you will probably have to swim out and rescue it.

I use the NQD rudder in my Kyosho but it has the plastic shaft cut off and has a 4mm steel shaft and arm.
Since I modified my rudder it has never slipped again.

Have you managed to stop all the water getting in yet???

Good Luck!

Sea ya.

I use a drop or two of super glue when putting the old rudder and arm together, once glued it doesn't move. However when you want to pull them apart for what ever reason it can be difficult.

I remember the old days when it would just do donuts, funny now but damn annoying back then!

Surfing in offshore winds could be hazardist to the little dudes health,
you'll have to be very confident it won't die in the line up or OUTSIDE!
In my case, I got tangled up with a surfer and it rendered my little guy
helpless, water was real cold, had my street clothes on, no board with me,
lucky a surfer figuard it out after seeing me waving my arms, screaming and
motioning my hand across my throat, dead, he figured it out and after
a good paddle, retreaved my dude otherwise it would of been GONE!
I was lucky and thankful! A good $800 out to sea would of been a real BUMMER!!!
Later dudes BB

Yeah, BB sure is right about being prepared for the worse,

When your board runs out of battery or breaks down on the outside or out in the channel it can get the adrenalin goin' a bit.
But, that is why I say,

ALWAYSTAKEABOARDANDWETTIEOR ATLEASTBEPREPAREDTOSWIM (Just in case the Dude starts floating off to China)

But just like real surfing, there is nothing like offshore perfection and the little guys go so much better with nice clean lines coming in.
My Dude won't even go out unless it is offshore. (LOL)
I don't blame him, afte all, "Who wants to be at the beach when its onshore and blown out???"

It is all just part of the RC Surfing BLAST!!!

Have fun guys.

Sea ya.

Cananzi,

On the vid I use 3S 2650MAh pack, i stopped after 7 min and still had about 3.6V / cell, so I guess I can get arround 15 min by slowing down a bit

I suppose it all depends on how heavy is your board and how hard you drive it. Anyway I got 3300MAh packs now it should gives a little extra.

How are you progressing with your custom board? are you going to fit the battery in front of the engine (thats what i do) or at the back?

Clement

jefa

on my NQD boards i was using 3s 5000mah on 3.4volt cutoff and getting around 23-25mins.

the full custom board is progressing nicely. basically waiting on parts ,shafts etc. I have placed the lipo more towards the middle to centre the weight and gone with an extra lengthed shaft. the 5000mah 4s fits in easy so i might even go higher mah lipo once its all up n running.

hoping for runtimes 30-40mins, fingers crossed :-)
