RE: RC Surfer
Hey Curls
- The STOKE at RCSA is growing fast..............very cool ! ..............well done for the implementation.
- I made a few further adjustments to my boards Fin Arrangement - and its shredding ! ( will share the details in the Shaping room)
- Running the 5000 mAh ( 35-70 C) NANO TECK packs - awesome power and run times.
- Chat with you later !
Regards

RE: RC Surfer
Hi Curls !
Great advances - NAMBA will certainly solidify what we are establishing.
It will 'formalise' the Association

Hey Crew,
Here are a few pics ofaKyosho I am building at the moment and also a few that Bob took ofOffshore'sNQD getting a good testing out last weekend.
Hope your all getting plenty of waves.

RE: RC Surfer
Hey Curls !
Whats that old song from the 80's........ Oh Oh Oh Aha ......Illusion .......Oh Oh Oh Aha Illusion..........LOL - smoke and mirrors.
Hi all !....looks like RCU is getting back on track.......great builds been shown.
Besides enjoying my current builds, I am exploring some 'new design' concepts....... A deeper V hull ( no pod required) more lean improving the scale ride look of the board as well as even sharper turns on the face- with a surface drive prop instillation ( only half of the prop diameter in the water) - reducing the overall drag further - improving performance / increasing run times.
Follow the step by step build with me in our 'Shaping Room' and lets see the results.

RE: RC Surfer
The Beat goes on......................
Hatch Cover molded.
Running gear Housing created.
Simple 'solid shaft' Drive shaft assembly made up.
No Pod or drive shaft keel will protrude from the boards running surface.
With this in mind, as well as a shorter running surface- less prop radius in the water - I am very keen to measure the further extended run time and realize the added acceleration/speed with the same power source.

RE: RC Surfer
Long Range Tanks........10 000 mAh
Besides the presumed advantages of the 'smooth hull surface' and 'surface drive prop' arrangement, my HK shipment just arrived with the Nano Teck 2s 5000 mAh (35C) packs... As I was hopping - I can run X2 bats, paralleled - 10 000 mAh ( long range tanks...... )
Some theory......
10 000mAh X 35c = 350 000 mA/h discharge rate = 5833mA/minute. If the motors max draw is say 70 amps/h that will be 1160mA/minute (70Amps/60minutes)
If I discharge the batteries by 80% = 2000 mAh = 1166mA/minute discharge rate = equal to the motors maximum draw down - at 1166mA/minute.
Seen that this it is a 2s 2P pack set up:
The 'discharge Rate' capability can theoretically be doubled as batteries in Parallel only see 'half' of the amp draw - therefore they each dont experience the direct Amp draw a single battery would and thus dont generate as much heat due to the discharge - running cooler.
With both batteries on board the complete RTS weight will be approx. 1700 grams, with much of the overall weight in the very V of the hull. This will improve the 'self righting' and overall stability even further, as the CG will be about 15mm 'lower' in the hull than my boards with a pod.
Based on the boards DIMS - the self righting weight is calculated at 1600 grams - so ! rather than adding the extra weight required in the form of 'dead lead' the extra battery will serve the purpose of the needed weight to achieve the minimum weight for self righting 'as well' as provide more amps for 'more run time' with less stress on the individual battery packs, allowing a more than safe 80% usage draw down on the packs, still having sufficient amps to discharge, ensuring good performance throughout the draw down and plenty of life cycles.

Dominic
