Work is coming along with the second board. Installed new receiver , tekin marine esc , Gasket and screws. (thanks surfcurls.com) and lipo batterys. Runs real strong. Its a 20 turn hpi motor. I still have to install the plumbing. For a brushed motor/esc setup it runs well. Check it out!

YPC Wow what a great video! Really enjoyed the Seal Action. Never saw that before. I like the dialogue you explaining the video. It helps set the seen. It wont be long before we hit the beach again. Weather is getting warmer. Cant wait.

Who is shooting the video? They are doing great work. Its hard work keeping the surfer in the frame. Good Job!

Cave- Sounds like you are on the right track. Lam resin doesn't tend to flow out as well as sanding ( hotcoat) and you are not ment to sand it much. I have never heard of moisture affecting resin in that way, unless you tried to do it out in the rain. LOL
Aloha, KH

I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up.

Howzit PowerPark......looks like you have been hard at work.....hope you realize the fruits of your labor soon...

The Seal Video was a very special session..one to be remembered for sure.....My lovely wife 'Lisa-Marie' does all the videoing for me. She uses a very basic Cannon Power Shot S5IS - hand held.
I have to agree !!! -"She does a great job"...knows exactly when and what to film.....keeps it spot on in the frame.....She raced Surf Inflatables and Free Style Stand Up Jet Skis for a good few years - so knows what to look for on a wave...often coaches me ....LOL ...most of all....she loves filming the Bro'......so its all good for me.....and we get to enjoy it together.

I enjoy rcSurfing most any surf...still in euphoria mode..its all still a challenge and absolute fun for me....this evening I squeezed in a quick pack on my way home from Gym. Surf was small- side shore & bumpy - But Hey !....we were there - SO !....why not surf it. I really enjoy the challenge of finding that piece of smooth face to carve or a section of lip to get some Air !.....all good practice.....

Looking forward to seeing some of your rcSurf action.......

YPC You do have the best videos. Yes this sport is very addicting. I only wish I lived closer to the beach. I would be out there every day. Buying a second board is like money in the bank. Worth every cent. Working on this board is a lot of fun. Its a small surfer compared to what I am seeing on this page. Lipo batterys are a perfect fit and pack so much power. Lipos today are better than my best match pack and cost a whole lot less. I will never go back to nickel metal or nicads again. Yea my wife does the videoing too. Sits on the beach with tripod using a JVC Everio. Nothing special. It does the job. Hey keep up the good work. Your board looks awesome!

Hey Guys.........

Sorry for the Ranting about the Airtronics RX-462 Telemetry Receiver........
As it turns out, it was KiteHook who had the correct answers.........
Answer:
The volt reading on the MT-4 Transmitter is an "As is in the Board" reading. Any reading is OK.
As you surf your Dude, the telemetry readout monitors your remaining voltage.
As Kite says....... Just bring him in when the reading is 17.5 volts / 3.5 volts per cell.
That's it......... works perfectly.
As for runtimes..... I set the countdown timer for 25 minutes and start watching the volt telemetry.
I have been getting over 30 minutes since switching to the Leopard 3674 and 5S NanoTech batteries.
Thanks again to KiteHook. He has been using the Airtronics MT-4 Telemetry stuff for quite awhile.

Karl......I wise man once told me " if a tree falls in a forest and I don't happen to hear it fall - it does not mean that it did not make a noise"

Polyester resin is hydroscopic (it attracts moisture) - if the filler/sanding coat is left unsealed overnight - or - for some time in a certain environment - there is a good chance that moisture can contaminate the surface and cause the 'fish eye' effect to spoil the gloss coat when applied.

So i visited my surfboard maker friend.

showed him my project and between lol's and expected moron remarks he told me all sorts of fiberglassin things they have tried along the way.... even stories of blanks still breathin out air causing bubbles led to experiments freezing blanks to eliminate the scenario man it was intense and now i kinda realised its quite an art to fiberglass properly whatever way you go... pretty much what Karl has said and yeh the acetone i thought that may have been an issue is irelevent and end of day should only thin out the resin not cause any probs.

btw he didn't think much of uv cure resin reckons its a bit brittle but... lol... on my little escape from reality shouldn't be a problem.. lol again

And as expected he showed me his new dragbike head with the oversize valves and high lift cam... started askin me about nitro percentages in my rc cars and wether he should stick with carbys or go full injection, oiling issues on start up etc etc and the new frame arrives in 30days and.... end of day i should have just gone and bought some more sandpaper... LOL

Anyway imo think the long breaks between my building have a go's has allowed all sorts of moisture dirt insect and animal prints to maybe cause most of my probs.

BTW.... powerpark i have one of those 20turns in a HPI drift car... works good atm but when it wears out i'm goin brushless...

Larry tube thanks for the airtronics info.... and yes Kite is someone who knows much about that stuff

And when i grow up i hope to have a stash of cash to spend on a beach house for me and my like minded friends and a seperate castle for the princess's.... i guess a few acres of tar and dirt out the back for the blown out days would be greedy so just goin the beach house atm.. ... lol

Thanks..........

Motor is a Leopard 3674 / 22,000kv
Props: Carbon Filled 435 and Grim Racer 455 balanced / sharpened
The CF props are working very well... don't need balancing, light weight, responsive and CHEAP.
Grim Racer 455 is just plain powerful and fast.

I guess my years of Sandrail fabracation and Auto restoration are begining to show up in my RC Surfer stuff.

Yo YPC- I Didn't say that it was impossible that Cave's seperations were from moisture. I said that in myexperience I have never seen what he discribed happening from moisture. I livewhere the annual rainfall is around 10' ( 3 meters) and have been involved with surfboards forover 40 yrs. but itcould be!!! ,However we don't usually leave the resin can out in the rain.
Dom- you have an obsession with being right, or having to have the lastword of athority on atopic. Many of us have as much experience or more than you, andthere are often more than one right answer. If youthink you are always right you might miss something. So, for the sake of having fun and helping others on this forum, Chill out !!!
Please Don't Respond, just think about it.

Thanks, Karl
