Very nice F1.

On my trailer I used wood covered with upholstery fabric for my bunks (rails).

Your trailers look fantastic Don!!! I have considered material and do have some, the wood is also a nice touch, I was going to paint my whole trailer but seen how all the welds came up nice I am thinking the polished look- will come up super shiny being stainless! I like your gaurds too, I made some that look similar but need to make new ones out of better metal that wlll solder and that will also fit the new wheels I have used. I just used a hammer and an old engine block as a dolley to shape my gaurds- sounds rough but it works and makes you feel like a blacksmitha bit at the same time!! I will upload some pics of them.
All the best
F1.

Hi there Don, well here is my first fender attempt I did some time ago now, as you can see I had read your posts as mine are very similar in theory, products dont compare!!! Did you cut your forming blocks with a bandsaw or jigsaw- the trick is to follow the line when cutting haha

Default RE: Trailer Building 101

hey everyone i know its been over a year since this thread was last posted on but i am going to build a trailer and i thought i would share my plans
(i have not started building yet so these are all ideas)
i am going to be making a flat bed to carry my traxxas slash
for the main frame i am going to be using 1/2inch square aluminum pipe with two cross members going across for support
for the axels i plan on using 3/4inch I.D. pipe that is big enough to use standard traxxas slash bearings. for the axels i plan on using traxxas slash stub axels and im going to super glue the bearings so that the stub axel is locked in place and so that it can still move freely
for the tongue i plan on using redcat racing sumo pillow balls. they are small with lots of manuverablilty and are threaded so i can use a regular steering arm from the sumo
for the bed or surface i plan of either using scale diamond plating from rc4wd.com or using scalepreforated sheets ( http://www.metalsdepot.com/products/...age=Perforated )
for the shocks im going to use leaf springs from rc4wd.com and for the wheels i plan on using scale rims and tires from rc4wd.com
here are the rims ( http://store.rc4wd.com/5-Lug-Wagon-1...te_p_1930.html)
and the tires ( http://store.rc4wd.com/Dirt-Grabber-...res_p_216.html)
thought i would share that with you and i hope to be making it in school pretty soon and i will post pictures later

Never posted the pictures of the other trailer I made. Kind of half *****, spent about 20 minutes on it. Tilt deck for easy loading, single axle car hauler, used airplane wheels as trailer tires.

If I ever finish it I will post up more pictures.
