RE: USS Missouri Build
Deathwise - I saved those plans and would like to print them out, but I'm not sure what the proper size would be. There's nothing I can get a baseline off of. If anyone can help I would appreciate it. Also, what is the scale of the Sterling Missouri? I would like to print those out so the model would be 1/96. Scratchbuild project possibly in my future....
Thanks, Ken
Thanks, Ken

RE: USS Missouri Build
Ken; Sterling's USS MO is an oddball size...something like 1/196. Don't quote me on that. Shoot me an email to [email protected] with your address and I'll dig up a 1 to 1 copy of the sterling plan for you. From that you can get them enlarged to do a 1/96 scale ship. It'll be about twice or little more the size of the sterling kit! Dave

RE: USS Missouri Build
Considering that a 1/192 scale USS Missouri is 55 1/2" long and with a 6" beam. If You did a 1/96 to say. That's 111" or about 9 1/4 feet long and a beam of 1 foot. I have seen a gentleman in Illinois that has buildt one this size. But that would be nut's plus i have a little apartment and size matters in my case. Am sending those to you soon as i get a chance too ken. BTW Ken is my name also. Thought i let you know. LOL

RE: USS Missouri Build
Ok i been getting people asking what scale are the part's. There 1/192 scale. Now if you wanting to make them bigger say to 1/96. Which would make the model about 9' Long and a width of 1'. This sort of describes how some of the part's fit's together to make one larger piece. I have been using the exact set to complete two of The Missouris's myself. So i know the parts actually fit like they suppose to. What you have to do is just save them and then print them out. They will build a 1/192 scale USS Missouri. Example on the part's on pages 14, 15, and 16 there is a part that fit's to make one large part. Page 14 AA matches Part AA-CC On Page 15 and AA-CC on page 15 matches CC on page 16. Hope this help's I also sell these at 15.00 Bucks and will ship them almost any where. please fell free to email me with your Info. and payment. I do use paypal to make payment's and shipping faster. My emial address is [email protected] Thank's for all of those who reapplied

RE: USS Missouri Build
The boat is a great runner with a simple 50 watt motor on 6 or 12 volts.
The single rudder will allow it to turn around 3 boat lengths.
A wet cell battery of about 3 to 5# gets a WL.
It does look great with the V bow wake at any speed.
the prop churn is very realistic.
Overdoing reverse is a HOOT. Massive white foam comong up from the prop area. Boat keeps right on going foward.
USE THICK Balsa for the outer planking. I redid the curved sections with 1/4" Balsa to allow enough sanding. MUST put some kind of cloth to protect the Balsa. No weight worries.
Enjoy

RE: USS Missouri Build
Why would you want to soup up a battleship? I could see making the guns spray water or smoke com out of the stacks but what's the point of making a battleship jump up on plane? People that build a scale warship want it to look scale on the water, not look like a apeedboat with guns

RE: USS Missouri Build
The original Sterling model which is 55 1/2" long and a beam of 6" used either a electric motor or a small gas one. Not sure what size i can look on the plan's i have. But either way it would plan out and case a pretty good wave behind it. I have a new camera and a tripod now so hopefully i can get it back out next spring and take a longer video with the wake behind it. I have mine set up to squirt water of the front 6" Gun. (water pump installed on the bottom of the hull and the hosed to the inside of the gun. Am also planning to get a smoke generator and maybe install some speaker's to hook up to my Ipod. I bought both of mine form dheinmuller first one was in picec's as you can see the other in a very good shape (motor weighted a ton lol).

RE: USS Missouri Build
Mr. Bassman
This may or may not help you, but way back in my memory banks is an article from Popular Mechanics whereby an individual built a HUGE scale battleship. He was actually able to fit inside (laying down) and piloted it from there. Article had to be from the late 50's or early 60's. I just remember it being a neat project. I recall (Maybe truth or maybe my imagination at the time) that he had .22s for the 16" guns.
Might be worth a search.

RE: USS Missouri Build
OK, OK....Need help again. If you have built one of thses kits., please respond.
The instructions say....Step four ...."H14D's provide sides for water-tight compartment. These are cemented to F3 flush with the opening. Front is cemented to H13B and rear to H14B. Stepdown in rear of H14D's allow clearance for 3/16" balsa strips which are added later."
THERE ARE NO PICTURES OF SAME IN THE PLANS
Can anyone shed some light on this?
Thanks in advance!
