Default New To R/C Boats help needed

Dear all,

I was given a gas r/ boat for Christmas and I am entirely new to this hobby.

It seems that I have flooded the carburator and I could not start the motor, most probably due to wrong operation of the choke. Could you please advise of how to make it work.

Secondly how do you test that the spark plug is good. I have heard that you just pull the starter and see if the spark appears when placing the tip of it on the motor. Is that correct?

finally from where the spark plug pipe comes out, there is a pin closely located. What is that pin for, do I connect something to this?

Motor is a fuji Imvac BT 24M

many thanks for assisting with your posts.
