Need Boat Recommendation

This is my first post here. I've been searching, but I haven't found any topics that quite match my needs. I don't currently own any RCs.

I'd like to order a boat for my grandson to use whenever he comes to visit me at the coast. I live on a waterfront canal, but it is salt water.

I was hoping to keep the price under $150 if possible.

OK, here's the requirements:

1. Racer, not cruiser
2. Is it possible to get a boat in that price range
3. Can you get one with reverse?
4. Are any of them suited for salt water? This part is not a "deal breaker". I can always rinse after use.
5. Are there any out there that have a governor to limit the speed while my grandson is learning? It might help me too. LOL
6. If the price can't be kept under $150, I'll consider higher prices.
7. This one is a MUST. I must be able to buy replacement parts.

Thanks,

Carlos

For that price range there is a lot of junk out there that if something does happen you might as well toss it in the trash. For $150.00 though you're not going to get blazing speeds but in the 15-20 MPH range. AquaCraft and ProBoat both have some in that range and you can get parts for them.
Don't let kids underestimate you as they catch on quickly. My son was racing RC trucks at 6 and getting trophies against adults. I let him race a nitro outboard tunnel at 12 and he got a 3rd place finish in his 1st race. You can limit the speed though if you feel he needs to go slower.
No reverse in a fast boat.
Wash it down well after running in saltwater. Shoot WD-40 or something similar on all metal parts.

Ron, thank you. That is exactly the kind of information I was looking for.

What's nice about those is that you can order then yourself, buy or get them from an area hobby shop. Parts are also available from those outlets.
Both sites have videos also so you can shop and compare before buying.

I think they are still available but zig zag racers where a great value from Horizon, I think around 90.00 you can get them from Horizon hobbies everything in 1 box, like ron said wd 40 after use. my kids had there for years and they can handle running into the sea wall to a point.
