Topping off your battery in the A.M.
I usually do my full charge at night and then top it off in the a.m. before running it. It usually takes 400 to top off after a night of sitting. 4200Mah Nimh, and 3600Mah Nimh. Is this damaging to the battery? Or pointless? Charged/topped off on a triton2 EQ @ 3A

RE: Topping off your battery in the A.M.
If the pack isn't over 110 degrees F then it isn't damaging. If it is saving you valuable time then it isn't pointless. (if you had plenty of time in the morning then it may be pointless/wastefull) I would question why it is taking so much to "top-off" though. Are the packs self-discharging that much overnight? It sounds a bit excessive.

Yeah that's how much it's discharging overnight and it seems to hold steady at that number. Thats what I meant by pointless, I was wondering if they backed down 400 automatically as an "overload buffer?", or it took that long for the charger to verify they were peaked. About 8-10 minutes 3A charge.
Thanks for the heads up on damage. Being a carpenter with many cordless tools I've always heard so many different philosophies of running a pack all the way down before charging etc.. With so many different elements used these days' it's hard to keep up with the conditioning of them.
