Thats a nice vintage collectable, might wanna make it a shelf queen.
But its all in what you want to do.
Does it have the stealth transmission on it ? if it does it will probally hold up to brushless
and li-po...but check it out first!

I have a gold pan also. Thinking that it would be fun to drop a brushless/lipo setup in it. Wouldn't win any races {not really the cars fault } but would be a cool piece.

Id say the servos are fine too, just put some fresh batts in the radio and try the servos out.

The 6 gear transmission is kind of designed weird, instead of having a diff down inside the transmission... its up at the spur gear. Each wheel is driven by 3 of the 6 transmission gears. You really have to take it apart (or find a diagram) to fully understand how it works. Now keep in mind, Associated did make a white stealth transmission for a while, but those are pretty rare.
Here are both the transmission cases. The first is a 6-gear, the second is stealth. Just compare them to yours. If you plan on running brushless, you would need to rebuild it anyways. Just count the gears inside.

I've got a vintage gold pan rc10 too! It's great, all the same electronics and radio! It runs like a charm still! That's why I got back into the hobby bc after all these yrs it's still running! That's intriguing! Good luck with yours. I still have orig motor but for fun I slapped in a new venom motor and the thing flies! Cool stuff!
