ThunderbirdJunkie's pit table build thread
So, picked up a folding 4' table from wal mart with a rubber floormat meant for something else, a power strip and a Duratrax car stand.
ThunderbirdJunkie intends for this to be the pimpest pit table in the land. It will have both 12v DC and 120AC outlets, along with a stereo and possibly a 12v cooler.
This is the project in its infancy.
Follow along on ThunderbirdJunkie's lazy build, followed shortly by OH GOD OUTDOOR SEASON IS IN TWO WEEKS THIS THING NEEDS TO GET FINISHED!

RE: ThunderbirdJunkie's pit table build thread
Yo Thunderbird, I had the same sort of idea last year but I used a De Walt shock/waterproof radio and built and starter box into it.
Great idea though.
By the way, what is that antena on your buggy????Does it stop your buggy flipping over or something???

lez...you might also recognize this snazzy thing on the motor, too.
There are two chunks of some sort of material pushed into making contact with this thing called a "commutator"
It produces kinetic energy when electrified! So new and stuff[&:]

Got the vinyl whatever mat cut down, screwed (with sheetmetal screws, yes. Pretty ghetto and hack) to the table, a few holes drilled into the right side of the table for allens...
Probably gonna pick up the ASE mate set to the Dynamite drivers and drill the holes out to match the base of the handle (where the bit screws into) so they stay put a little better.
Also ordered the car head unit (obviously no expense was spared, ThunderbirdJunkie is normally a Pioneer guy) and and started designing the box that'll house the radio, power supply, and speakers, and screwed the power strip to the table

i almost bought one of those tables but now i race indoors with pit spaces.
i would have glued the mat to the table though, much cleaner then your hack. lol
can't wait to see it finished. you need to find room for a cooler.
is that a murfdog motor i see there?

Here's an idea.. why not make the whole table remote controlled?? So you can move the table around with your radio??

Seriously considered just building a slide-out table for the cargo area of the Jeep, tbh.

Dr Pepper win! [8D]
As for the car audio, any particular reason why you went that route? Size concerns perhaps? I think a normal desk radio would get far better reception.

Also, it runs off of 12v. The power supply supplies 12v. Probably going to get a pair of 6.5" or 4" coaxial speakers; nothing special. Actually probably going to upgrade the door speakers in the Jeep and put the Kenwoods from the Jeep in the "electronics box".

Gluing the mat was kind of an option if the bottom side didn't have the little nubs to prevent it from sliding around on an SUV's trunk floor, too. Also, this way, it's easier to replace if something stupid happens (IE leave soldering iron on it) without replacing the table itself.
Yes, that is a Murfdogg motor. Going into the XXX-SCT when the Tekin RS Pro gets here.

Or he can get a proper system, one that doesn't consist solely of subwoofers and thusly one that doesn't sound like someone taking a dump into a tuba, and play this instead:

get some hooks to hang nitro bottles, or, you could rig it up so you could pump fuel into the car from under the table with a hose[X(]

RE: ThunderbirdJunkie's pit table build thread
ThunderbirdJunkie has plenty nitros...two nitro savages, a couple XXX-NTs, have had a few 1/8 buggies over the years...never really raced nitro though.
Wouldn't mind giving it a whirl, but spending a grand on a 1/8 buggy build right now is out of the budget...hence the $46-to-the-door Dual receiver that was bought with a Best Buy gift card from Christmas [&:]

The XXX-NTs would work if anyone still runs that class at your track. Not only that, but you don't need to spend a grand on a 1/8 buggy. A used one for 250-300, rebuild the engine if needed, supply your own reciever, and you're on the track for around half that. It's 75% driver anyways.

RE: ThunderbirdJunkie's pit table build thread
Yeah, ThunderbirdJunkie built his XXX-NT AD2 to race...then...riiiiiiiiight about the time the engine got broken in, people stopped showing up with their gas trucks at the track
