Fantom threaded vs SG shaft
for my ntc3 that i am going to get, i am gonna get a fantom fr15 03 edition, and it only comes with threaded shaft. will that work in the ntc3? and i was reading an article that said centax clutches only work on SG shafts. so could i not use a centax clutch on a fantom fr15??

Forget the centax man.. just get a good 3 shoe if you can. Its not worth the money. True its adjustable but for $100 bucks? lol
I've noticed that higher end engines seem to use only an SG shaft. I dont think one is better or anything..
The NTC3 will work with BOTH threaded and SG.
Btw, anyone know what SG stands for? I heard it was coined over in Japan and the meaning has been lost!

If you are looking for performacne go with the SG cause then you can up grade later to the Centax clutch.
The centax clutch has a major notice in performance. Just ask anyone who has upgraded. The adjustability is sweet, although a pain in the ***** in the NTC3 but still it is a major benefit. And yes it is worth the 100 bucks. NTC3, is one of the only Competition cars that are sold with OUT a centax clutch. V-ONE-RR, MTX-3, Serpent , R40, G4, Fw05R, Reflex, Vision GS ,1/8th scales and many more come with the centax clutch. The reason why? Cause it is has a huge edge on 2,3 and even 4 shoe clutch designs.
If you do not know anything about a Centax clutch or why they are so different then go here .

Centax clutch snaps the power on instantly at the rpm you desire. Not like the mushy feeling basic centrifugal clutches give you.
So Back to the original question, I would go with a SG shaft. Why? first you don't have to cut the threads down to fit it in your application and secondly you don't limit yourself to upgrades as your driving style starts to warrant them. With a threaded shaft you can not put a centax on it. I would not limit myself that way on anything.
