Default what causes an RC Car?

What causes an RC car to use brakes? I know they don't have brake calipers on the wheels or anything, I thought the slipper clutch had something to do with it but IDK. Anyone have somewhere I can read about how brakes work on RC cars?

it depends if your talking about electric or some kind of petrol powered (nitro, gas, etc.). electrics use their own motor's as their brakes, by using the magnets in the motor to slow down the center shaft, resulting in the output being slowed down, which mean your wheels will slow along with the motor. petrol's use a mechanical brake, with brake pads and everything. but no, the slipper clutch is just something that protects the drivetrain by slippin if the motor continues to spin but the wheels do not due to numerous possibilities.

Maybe you should take a look at Foxy's mates F1 car, I think it is 1.5 scale and it had some sweet breaks on all 4 wheels, Hydrolic by the looks of it, aparently 700bucks a set.
If your driving a 1/8 scale nitro buggy Truggy or on-road race car, that'll probably have disc breaks also, just not on the wheels but on the drive shaft.
Electrics break on the motor.I think.
Dragsters are using a parachut, anker, disc break set up.
Most noobs just use a wall to stop.[:@]
