Default disposing of nitro fuel?

well i have some nitro fuel sitting in my basement and i forgot about it for quite some time after i gave up on nitro. so i was just wondering, how can i dispose of this nitro fuel? besides setting fire to it because that i think is plain dumb.

If you never opened it you can offload it on craigslist, if you did open it, then use it to kill weeds or something.

Setting it on fire is the coolest thing you can do, why would it be stupid? Are you the fun police? [&:]

Do it at night

It's wicked cool

HPI_Savage_RC once had some old gasoline he needed to dispose of.

HPI_Savage_RC did this:

HPI_Savage_RC thinks nitro fuel would produce similarly spectacular results.

How are we supposed to give you good advice if you take away the only logical thing to say?

I was severely burned by nitro fuel about 4 years ago. At a bonfire, the host started pouring traxxas top fuel on to an unlit portion of the fire. the stream of fuel caught fire, it ran up the stream and into the can (the old metal traxxas style can). The can expanded in my friends hand, then it contracted and shot burning liquid nitro out the spout. i was standing across the fire and got hit with the burning fluid. it splashed off me and unto the people standing next to me. If we hadnt been right next to a lake, i probably would not be able to type this. I walked away with 2nd and 3rd degree burns to my face and arm. healed up nicely though, no real scars, just a little discoloration on my hand and inside my right ear.

Moral of the story, dont screw around with nitro and fire. just pour it on your weeds.

I'm sorry, friend. Thankfully your incident didn't turn out worse and as you stated, you are still around to share the story.

A little over 10 years ago some friends and I were in our late teen to early 20s and had some old watered down nitro fuel to dispose of.Our geniuos minds came up with various scenarious to burn or explode it. In the end my buddy burned some of his hair off and Ilit my hands on fire. Lucklily (for me) the nitro vapor burned around my hand and never actually burned my skin. Take it from Mike and I, if you play with fire you will get burned (eventually).

Why not just give the fuel to someone who runs Nitro? If stored well it will most likely still be good.

If you don't want to set it on fire or poison the ground water with it, look in your local yellow pages (or google) for the local non-profit hazmat disposal company. Heck, just ask the local gas station where they get rid of all their oil, batteries, etc. Maybe they'll even take it off your hands for you.[&:]

Yeah, They don't seem to have any problems lately with international borders and legality. After ATF agents personally delivered semi auto weapons to felons in Mexico they surely shouldn't have any qualms about raiding the residence of a Canadian national at his home in Canada.

HPI_savage_rc rocks!!! Nice vid.

I think the Rangers would have something to say about that if I was letting off gas bombs in the middle of sbnf.

Using up the nitro fuel is probably the best way to get rid of it.

Now I got fireworks to watch.

Old methanol-nitro fuel works in your gasoline tank of your car or truck. Often times we experience water in our fuel tanks. We go to the auto parts store and purchase "dry gas" to rid our fuel tanks of the moisture we may have acquired at our local gas station or in the northern climates; the heating and cooling causes the air vapor in our fuel tanks to "sweat" and deposit a very smallamount of water in the bottom of our car's fuel tank.Eventually, this water accumulation can become a problem. "Dry-gas" is methanol in a little bottle that the auto parts stores charge alot of money for. Old model airplane methanolfuel even with nitromethane and castor oil/syntheticoilin it works great for removing any accumulation of water ina fuel tank. The oil doesn't seem to foul the spark plugs and does a great job of cleaning the fuel injection system. My wife's DTS Cadilac Deville was running a little rough a couple of years ago. A pint of old airplane glow fuel fixed it right up!

If you have poison ivy growing around the yard; old fuel takes care of it in a couple of days.
