Default $1000, part II

Same premise as the other thread, except this time, it's for electrics. You guys seem fit to pop into the "What nitro would you buy for a grand?" thread, figured you could have your own instead.

For me, two things. First, I would get myself a Tamiya Globe Liner, flatbed trailer and BL system. Then, I'd take the balance to RC4WD and I would buy me the parts to build a live axle speed demon. I might make a custom twin I-beam front end, like what's under my F150, but they'd be able to sell me the majority of the parts I'd need to build it. Anything left after that will go towards buying Spektrum receivers, a DX6i transmitter(Need the multi model memory my DX5e lacks), brushless systems and some lipos/chargers.

Yes, I may come off as a nitro fanboy, and while my heart does lie in ICE power, there are a few electrics I would buy.

I would buy an electric, then sell it to buy a nitro.

1994 Toyota Paseo with fried transmission - $200
Transmission rebuild kit - $76
Tires - $375
Case of ATF - $25 or whatever it is
oil and filter - $10

Drive it till it needs the oil changed, sell it for $1800, and buy more toy car stuff.

Oh, wait...that's really what happens, not fantasy[&:]

Because ThunderbirdJunkie drives 25k miles a year, and 14 mpg average with the Jeep is not as good as 33mpg average with a 1994 Toyota Paseo.

For $1000 I would get something.

33 is a lot more...

Burning 2 $60 tanks of gas in the Jeep a week vs burning 1 $38 tank of gas in the Paseo...yeah...

My parents spend about $250 a week on gas...

Im just saying that $120 a week is not much. Im probably getting a jeep wrangler, mustang or camaro this month. So I (bold) be paying for gas. You cant void my argument. $120 is not bad...
Somebody doesn't pay their own bills

For the sake of comparison, around here, rent on a nice apartment is $700 a month. $120 a week is $480 a month.

Is RCU just exceptionally stupid today, or what?

$250 a month is SIGNIFICANTLY lower than the $120 a WEEK ThunderbirdJunkie would be spending on gas had he not picked up another freakin' Paseo.

When you start paying your own bills, you'll UNDERSTAND...BTW congrats on your 16th birthday

Stop polluting this thread with your obvious lack of knowledge of the world around you. God, ThunderbirdJunkie made a Paseo joke, and some kid that doesn't even own a car insults his flip-beater...your parents should send you to finishing school rather than buy you some shiny car you'll use to meet your demise while trying to impress your friends.

The point is, IT DOESN'T MATTER. You have NO clue what's going on, and you should stop talking when that is the case.

My 16th birthday was four months ago. [X(] I could graduate high school in the first semester of my junior year. Then Im off to the Air Force Academy, and after that I will be serving our country. Upholding the freedom that allows us to have this conversation. I dont need the knowledge of this world. The military world is a whole lot different. I will be going to one of the best colleges in this country, and you think Im going to risk that to impress my friends? They are not worth it.

Besides the kid with a maserati at my school can impress them.

Ps that paseo is a POS and the jokes suck.
WOW.

Just...

WOW...wow.

You really need to step down off that high horse of yours, kid. That attitude is NOT going to get you anywhere, ESPECIALLY at your age, and ESPECIALLY going into the military. YOU are serving the CIVILIAN world, and you are volunteering to do so; DO NOT forget that. If you expect any civi to kiss your butt simply because you decided to sign away two to twenty years of your life serving the government, you've got a life lesson you'll learn soon enough.

Which base are you going to be stationed?

And yes...the Paseo is a POS...just like the last Paseo ThunderbirdJunkie bought for cheap, put a minimal amount of money into, drove, then sold.
