Default Which is the best car for me?

Hi there,

I use to own a Carson Dazzler Nitro, but because of my driving style it got broke and the cost to repair it was more than the car was worth!

Now 3 years later I would like another one. Which one is best

Traxxas Stampede VXL 4x4 (Electric)

HPI Bullet ST 3.0 RTR 2.4GHz (Nitro)

HPI Bullet MT 3.0 RTR 2.4GHz (Nitro)

HPI Bullet MT Flux RTR 2.4GHz (Electric)

HPI Bullet ST Flux RTR 2.4GHz (Electric)

I want to drive in open fields and a car that is capable of big crashes. Is electric faster than nitro? Which will last longer and be cheaper to maintain?
Is nitro more fun than electric? In the list of what I need most it would be:

1. Strength
2. Cost to maintain
3. Speed
4. Handling

Please help!

Just warning the poll will be heavily skewed torwards the Pede 4X4 due to the majority of the members(like me) living on a continent where HPI never released the bullet cause we weren't worthy.
But the bullet from what I know is a re-released HotBodies Lightning GT10, and from what I read from owners that was a pretty damn reliable truck.
As for speed unless you are going to buy a modded engine, and a damn good pipe electric will smoke the the nitro.

You also might want to look at the HPI Savage XS that is coming out (or is out not 100% sure) it looks pretty promising

Thankyou for your reply!
So I guess the electric is faster, but are they more reliable and cost less to maintain?

Yes and no. With nitro, you dont have to wait for batteries to charge. With electric, you dont have to keep buying fuel... it really depends on your personal preference. I personally prefer nitro because I like playing with a little engine... but a lot of other people like electric because of the simplicity of it all.

I would have bought one in a heartbeat back when Europe, and the rest of the world got it seeing I wanted a 4wd electric ST at the time.

HPI

- word of the wise, NO car will handle big crashes at high speed, you run into something at 40MPH and something will break.

For me it's not the simplicity, it;s the power and speed. When nitro was more powerful, I had mostly nitros, now electric is more powerful I doubt I'll run the nitros ever again. Maybe for nostalgia and the smell. It was a godsend for me, because it;s hard to find somewhere in a capital city to run a model engine without annoying the crap out of people.

Nitro is more reliable then BL IMHO...I see BL rigs burn down daily at the track.......At the Nitro Challenge there were far more DNF in the electric classes then there were in the Nitro classes..... Guys try to make BL out to be much more then it really is....All I see are smoked ESC's and smoked motors.......At the track my nitros are faster and can run much longer without issue.......Everyone says BL is faster, which is true, but the reality is 99.9% of the BL at the tracks are actually slower then the Nitros running due tot he fact you have to detune the BL setups to keep them from going thermal.... Now I am also refering to 1/8 truggies and Buggies...the 1/10th gear seems to be more reliable...tho we did smoke a pile of SC BL gear this season.......

Forgot one thing I did read about the electric bullets from people who owned them(thanks to tib mentioning them going thermal) the electronics in them are 35A HW Setups which run EXTREMELY hot In all honesty you would prolly have to swap it to a 60A setup at minimal.

What brands were the brushless systems? You can't really compare a $50 brushless system from hong kong to a Tekin or LRP.
