As others pointed out, I do believe you were trolling, and that's OK. I know a lot of people see that as good ol' harmless fun on forums.

RE: Are RC cars toys?
OK kidding aside. This has to do with a larger problem of Americans losing our English vocabulary in our society.
Take a look at the word amateur.
People hate to be called amateur as much as we hate our planes, helies, cars, tanks, subs and rockets to be called toys.
What does amateur really mean? It means, one who engages in a pursuit, study, science, or sport as a pastime rather than as a profession.
Now the word has evolved to mean, one lacking in experience and competence in an art or science.
So what is the origin of the word amateur? It's a french word that comes from the Latin word amateur "to love".
I'm an amateur photographer. It's not my profession, I just love to do it. However I want my photos to look professional rather than done by an amateur.
Anyway, this word first know use was 1777. So someone created this word out of thin air one day. They probably where really good at doing something
like pottery and people would say "Oh there goes "Jack the potter" Then we would correct them, "No I'm not a potter, I'm a carpenter by profession.
I do pottery as pastime just out of love for it but I make my money building houses".
So if you guys are sick of your stuff being called toys then someone is going to have to come up with a new word for our RC items that fits a small,
expensive, intricate, device. Like the word daedel which means a small, expensive, intricate and finely built object.
"Hey that's a nice toy car you have there!"
"It's not a toy it's a daedal [de-dal].
"What's a dedal?"
"It's the opposite of a cheap, primitive, simple, or crudely built object".
So no, Mr Higgins, my RC planes are not toys they are daedals.

Rc cars are toys. They have no real purpose other than entertainment.

RC cars are diminutive, paltry or trifling, something for a child to play with, that can be handled without care.
Um no, "Toy" just doesn’t seem to fit with the object in question which is a modern RC car. I think they are more like daedals.
