omg, what a bunch of haters
omg, what a bunch of haters
I wonder, if Traxxas didn't use an iPhone or an ipod touch for this function on the new car and instead built their own touch interface programmer and you have to buy a it separately, like $80 or something. Would you still be mad about it? If you can spend over $250 on a castle MMM system and need a computer to control the castle link to program its higher end functions, you would need a programmer for every major ESC brand if you want to use the higher end features.
In my opinion the fact that you need to spend a bit more money to get at the higher end features of this system appears to be secondary to the fact that its an apple device thats required. If you have the money to buy a controller separately why can't you just buy an Ipod/iphone for cheap on ebay but rather complain about it?
Or are you just Traxxas AND Apple basher because they're both the top manufacturing companies out there?

It's just the fact that a specific 3rd party product is a requirement to get full functionality out of the thing you just spent a **** load of money on. Same issue with DLC in video games, where some of them require you to spend extra money to complete the game.

RE: Traxxas's Nov. 30 release.
the idea is neat if you are an iphone userbut if you already have a phone that you like and a computer its silly to buy another device, why not just an optionallinkand some downloadable software to adjust the settings for peaple who dont have iphones. the display with the gauges looks cool though with temp and batt voltage. god help you if you glance at it a 100mph lol

might as well jump on the electric wagon. i think nitro cars are going the way of the two stroke mx bike, waverunner, and outboard motor i am sad to say.

My problem with this car is the fact you need Texas Motor Speedway to get it to 100. Other than that this thing is cool.
Its funny though. You wreck this thing at top speed your not going to be replacing parts.

RE: Traxxas's Nov. 30 release.
On quick visual inspection I could see some very familiar C-hubs, bearing carfriers, a arms, and center driveshaft. but that's probably because Ive gotten so used to seeing em on Slash 4X4's...

I see it now, all I noticed was the bold 1099.99 which matched the Traxxas site. where on earth do they get that when Traxxas is saying msrp at 1099? I am no retail guru but they are not fooling anyone with that.

i was actually pretty disappointed by this release i was hoping for something that will be off road first of all and something that is either a competetor of the Baja 5B/T/SC or a 1/8th scale nitro buggy or electric for that matter for that price i think only die hard traxxas fans will buy it you might as well get a baja 5B for that price thats what i got.... go check out my vids Lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BB8B...el_video_title

well, I am still no retail guru, but last I checked MSRP means manufacture's suggested retail price
I did see on Towers site this little blurb
‡Displayed within some areas of our web site, the Retail Price is suggested by the manufacturer or supplier, or estimated in keeping with standard industry practice. It may not represent the prevailing price in your area or a price that Tower Hobbies has ever offered for the item.
