Default Best RC vehicle for $100 and under?

Hi all. I always really appreciate your help and expertise as I'm new to the RC world.

I have a son who has a birthday in January (after funds are depleted from Christmas).

I need to find the bestRCproduct (car, truck, rock-crawler, buggy, truggy, plane, heli...anything) that's available for $100 or less. No matter the scale size (infact, something that would work well indoors would be great)...just the best QUALITYfor that sort of budget. (I realize that it's not much...but all I have to work with). I'd reallyprefer to find a decent rock-crawler for that $, but am open to anything.

The bottom line is... he LOVESRC and I want the best overall product for that sort of budget. As always, thanks in advance for your help/expertise!

your best bet would probably be to get a losi mini or micro rc....you can usually get them used and ready to run for 100 or less but if you really wanna get him a rock crawler you might be able to pick up a used redcat crawler or exceed crawler. i did see that redcat has a micro crawler you can by new for aound 80 on ebay. i hope this helps you!

what the HPI recon is licensed from(recon is $109, and comes with a 2.4ghz radio). Dunno about the radio or electronics but based on the recon its fairly decent, and way better than the losi micro I owned.

I guess overall, I'd prefer some type of rock-crawler. Obviously with my budget, it'll end up being a mini or micro...

EASY, propulse, it IS a recon. i have one, put a brushless system in it and run the hell out of it and have yet to break or wear anything off it.

$60 rtr new sound good? then slap a $15 lipo batt and $40 brushless system in it, good times!

main issue with the animus 18 is the steering servo, radio, and ESC are all one package from what I read, also parts are astronomically expensive due to how they broke up the parts bundles(ok recon suffers from the astronomical parts cost but the propulse/megapro use the same exact parts which are sold way cheaper, and some rc18 parts fit which are cheap too).
Xerxes might want to chime in though on the anims 18 cause I'm pretty sure he owns it from what I remember.

Just an idea here as you mentioned it doesn't necessarily need to be land based...a couple of air hogs can be hours of fun. It's RC, and helps with the 'control' aspect of RC.

How old is your son btw?

http://www.nitrorcx.com/51c871-maxst...een-24ghz.html is a great crawler. And you would even have enough left to get a charger- http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...C-Peak-Charger

sorry your going 10 dollars over budget not including shipping, but it's the ONLY crawler under 100.
