Hey all,
I have been in and out of rc planes but never touched an rc car. My son is turning 8 and would like to get him a car to play with in the street and driveway. We're at the back of a big loop with almost no traffic. I don't want to waste money on a cheap toy, but don't want to spend a lot since I don't know if he will ever get that into it. just going to give it a try.

any suggestions for a low priced starter car setup?

My suggestion for a first RC is the Traxxas Stampede. You can pick up a brushed model new at around $180. It is simple to work on but will teach him what he needs to know to help him later on with more advanced issues. Also parts are available at every RC hobby shop in the country. Even as a brushed model it was pretty fast.

Yes, the stampede comes with litterally everything you will need. I recommend buying a better charger though, as the overnight charger that comes with the truck is pretty much junk. You can get nice charger for $30

super, thanks! I have a good charger from my rc electric planes, I would think that would work.

I second the 2wd pede. Best truck for a beginner. Plan on a better battery and charger. Otherwise the truck is good to go

The pede's xl-5 speed control also has a training mode that limits the throttle
to about half speed.
I think it comes with a 7 cell pack but its only a 3000 mah.
Should give a decent runtime, espicially in training mode.
