The paint could easily cost $20. 3 cans from my HobbyTown cost me $18 and that was the cheapest stuff they had. Yeah, you can buy it off ebay, but it's $9 shipping most of the time.

Three different colors is mildly simple. Fender guards black, scoop blue, and rest of the body white. Not anything crazy and just used masking tape to mask areas off. We should probably get back on topic, lol.

I think the 120mph run was did with a normal old MM 2200kv setup

and where the hell you buying paint for $20 for a simple job? seriously, and why the expensive batteries
also think it was done with the stock body (I deleted the link a few months back outta my bookmarks) found a 97mph run with the stock body, and parts on a MM 2200...

2 3S lipos $50 from good ole HK
$210 kit including body
$300 radio
$331 MM 2200 setup (personally I'd use the HW setup for $200 cause I think this is a ripoff)
$10 for paint (we'll go fancy 2 color paint job)

I'm coming up with around $900 for a RC with a controller not tied to a product that would cost an additional $150, but 1/3rd of that was for the $300 futaba which is not needed at all where a $20 radio would suffice where as you tacked on some extreme non-necessities that super inflated the price

Dont know why u would list 2x3s batteries when that ESC cant handle 6s...
thats why I listed the Mamba XL, maby the MMP would suffice.
Allso I thought using Max amps 9000lxmah with a True 100c would ensure a lower chance of voltage drop, meaning more speed.
They are a upgrade for the X0-1 ''The 3s 9000XL packs will give you a 10%+ increase in voltage and top speed. Post up those 2x lipo's u can get for $50, im intrested to see there specs. and efficiency. If they are any good I might get some.
Dont think a Cheap 2.4 radio with a low frame rate would be any good on a high speed car.... more i think about u would problary want a better servo.

Lastly the can of paint, If u look at the left side of the screen just under my avatar u will see im from Australia, our population is 22.5 million Vs the USA with over 313 million. we have fewer consumers in the rc industry than the USA. what does all that mean? RC stuff cost more.... $10 for a tamiya can is cheap

Not trying to trash traxxas, just saying the X0-1 isn't all that special. Now it probably is a deal if you don't want to experiment, own an iphone or newer ipod, and don't want to figure things out for yourself (lets face it there are A LOT of people like that on these forums) but for people that don't mind experimenting its not the deal they try and make it out to be.

Also that stupid need apple products BS they are using now irks me.
