I had to look at the calender to make sure it wasn't April 1st

There's a few things wrong with these that makes me think its a hoax

1 its not ground or water bound
2 its actually affordable, and priced competitively to others unlike everything else they make.

Now to be serious the quad copter on tower is listed at $70 (without radio), and the copter is $95 RTR
They might be mni's but that's not that bad from what I've seen as I've paid $40 (on sale) for crap ass chinese minis with 0 parts support.
I might just have to get one as I've been wanting a quad copter but the ones I seen the kits were almost the cost of their RTR
Now wonder when they will make a submarine

Put a VXL system in that!!! Lol

Wonder what the rated speed would be? And would u need optional gearing?

In all serious if they can keep the price down for the Australian market, with out marking it up 50% I might get one.

Hey wonder if they will make a upgrade to work with a iPhone?

I think they made the quadcopter so small (4.7" square) is because they have to compete with the rd drone and the blade mqx.

Traxxas should make a snowmobile next.......just saying

Never thought I'd see the day Traxxas took to the air. I hope its as nice as the hype. The MQX is a blast. Its funny how everyone keeps thinking they might put out an 1/8 scale buggy or truggy, at least I have for years and bam, they come up with something different every time. At least it don't have plastic slider axles everyone loves on it anywhere lol.
It is nice to see them jump into another market. With their outstanding customer service and parts availability it would be a nice micro quad to look into (after it comes out and others have tried it). It looks fairly sturdy for a micro aircraft. We will see!
Thanks for posting the link littlemel.

Compared to Airhogs it not to bad, the normal looking one is bigger than the pic. its 225mm long

But ive brought heaps of those $30 kmart helicopters before, and once they brake u are screwed. so its only going to be 3 times more expensive but with replacment parts... I would be happy with that

â–*Dual coaxial rotors
â–*Master stable hovering in just seconds
â–*Easy, Normal-Mode flying
â–*Fast, Expert-Mode flying
â–*Customizable flight modes let you choose your own settings
â–*High-capacity LiPo battery
â–*Handy USB-powered charger
â–*2.4GHz Transmitter eliminates frequency conflicts
â–*LCD Transmitter display keeps you informed
â–*Full line of genuine Traxxas accessories available
â–*DR-1 is backed by unparalleled Traxxas support and parts availability

hmm that pic the scales off
its almost 5 inches wide
and the heli from tip to tail is a lil over a foot

and yea phax this time I will agree parts support is VERY welcome and worth the extra price (I never thought I would say that) last dual rotor RC heli I had crashed, and even having the part numbers I couldn't find the parts I needed. I payed about half the cost of the traxxas one too for an AM piece of scrap. I will say it did get long flight times though(before the crash) it was over 10 mins on a 2S lipo. The quad copter I would admit seems to be perfect size to fly around the apartment

Wonder when it will ship though

Im tempted by the quad cause I like the idea of a stable craft which can hover but also make fast/agile manuvers.

I have had the MCX, which can hover but is fairly slow in doing anything else. No challange to fly it.

Then Ive had the mini single rotor. That was too hard for me to fly. I mean I could fly it, but it often took nasty hits off the wall or floor. That meant buying many parts.

The quad rotor "seems" based on flight vids I have seen to be the best combo of stable, yet agile.

Yeah the parts support part is true. Not saying its not worth buying, just saying its a little bit overpriced. Doesn't mean I'm not interested!

it is smaller than I would have liked.

specs say 4.7 wide/ 4.7 long. so, 4.7 inch square with the blades all facing as they are in the pic above.

But then it is meant for indoors. And Id rather see traxxas release this quad, then a 1 foot square quad costing $200-$300

I think they made the quad small for indoor flight to do what the mqx cant. Personally for the price of the both of them  they should be alright.

+1. I'm thinking of getting this traxxas now whenever I have the funds after it comes out. Was thinking about the MQX, but I would like something that can be flown indoors real easily, and then outdoors when its dead calm.

THe mqx is a more advanced copter, small movments on the controller are very quick on the quadcopter. this traxxas one should be more "laidback"

The MQX blade is quite a bit bigger. It is 11.5 in. prop to prop across the X and 7 in. wide (side to side) and has 5.5 in. props. It can handle a fair amount of outdoor enviroments. The cool thing about it, is that it has two flight modes (other than dual rates) It can be flown in the X configuration for stable indoor, learning and hovering or it can be switched up and flown in the + mode for more advanced flight, fast forward flight, bank and roll etc..
nitrosportsandrunner posted above about A quad that is bigger: http://www.wowhobbies.com/walkerahot...smitter-1.aspx This one packs a cam and comes rtf with a 7 channel radio with telemetry. brushless motors, aluminum airframe and fully aerobatic for $269.00. I am thinking this is my next aircraft. Walkera makes nice equipment nowdays, they have really stepped up their game.
For another micro there is also the Heli-max 1SQ http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXCUCS&P=ML RTF for $99 from tower available later this month. It will be on the easy pay list as well. Most Heli-max products are made by walkera as well. It should be a nice little quad. It looks pretty fast in the video and very stable.
I have been having a blast with the MQX and think its worth every penney I paid for it. Quads are a blast.
I'm surpised a mod hasn't moved this to the heli forum, probably a conspiracy to get Traxxas surface vehicle fans interested in flight via a well known company. Like Traxxas or not, if they make it masses of people will buy it.

Submarines, snowmobiles! Don't give them any ideas. They will have Slash pieces, and a rediculous rated top speed.

I was all over this until I saw how small they are. If these were the size of the 1/16 scale slash then Id be buying them like crazy......

Sorry Traxxas.... You mised the mark with me but I'm sure people will still buy a ton of them as Christmas is coming up..
