1/8 4wd IC Buggy History
Hey guys does anyone where I can find out more about the history of 1/8 buggy racing.
I would love to know when it officially started, who made the first 1/8 4wd buggy, win history, etc
I'm allso trying to find out more about the Losi 8ight history, not much luck yet

This is a good start, it may also give you some ideas for what else to search for (1/8th buggy starts in the middle of page 2).
http://www.kyosho.com/eng/company/rccar_history01.html
The Kyosho Burns was arguably the forerunner of what we know as '1/8th buggies', aka '1/8th rally game' in parts of Europe.
Losi will not feature in any historical articles relating to 1/8th, they were late to that particular party. They had some great historic cars, just not in the 1/8th arena.

Ahhh thanks man, I was curious to know if there was a predecessor to the losi 8ight?
That's cool,
1/8 buggy racing offically started in Japan in 1973
1977 saw the first kyosho 4wd 1/8 GT
1980, LAND JUMP 4D. Kyosho's first tuned drive 4wd
1987, BURNS 4WD. Kyosho's first flat-pan chassis and shaft driven 3-diff. drive train.
1991 kyosho first realesed the Inferno
So by the looks, it would be around 1987 that the world saw the first modern 1/8 4wd buggies from Kyosho (flat-pan chassis and shaft driven 3-diff. drive train)

RE: 1/8 4wd IC Buggy History
The EB4 S3 had a successful run in the UK and Europe (not sure about Asia to be honest, but not in the US) during its time, but its hardly a model that is sgnificant in the history of 1/8th. The S2 was arguably more influential. to be honest, Thunder Tiger tend to produce their own takes on existing classes, rather than innovating.
Significant perhaps, if only for the failed attempt at using a box type chassis for extra bracing (early models). Failed, because it was too stiff, and an optional flat chassis was immediately made available to those who wanted to switch.
I believe (but I'm no guru on the history of RC) that we really have Kyosho and Mugen to thank for the evolution of the best class in the surface hobby.
