RE: Aluminum Bodies?
Some of the ones pictured are cool; some are not, but overall I'd say fairly impractical. You'd have to invest in a body hammer and dolly to bang out the dents. Even fibreglass would be easier to repair, but the weight is bad. Lexan is probably standard for various reasons including light weight, impact resistant, cheap to replace, and since you paint them from the inside, you get a night exterior finish similar to base-coat clear-coat.

RE: Aluminum Bodies?
some look cool
but they are stupid
the reason bodies are lexan is to allow some impact energy deflection like why arms on RC's are plastic, and not metal from manufacturers it deflects energy that would be transferred to the rest.
same reason bodies on real cars crush easier now then they did in the 40's-80's its to aborb the energy from the impact instead of transferring it to the weakest link(in real cars that generally means the lump of flesh behind the wheel)

RE: Aluminum Bodies?
also the pricing there is really reasonable hmm
love the top of the pricing page
Are you ready for the next level of REALISM?
When you get your scaler too close to that boulder, do you demand SCALE BODY DAMAGE?
When you scrape along that rock you didn't see, do you want to see the SHEET METAL UNDER YOUR PAINT?

The ones Phmaximus put super were super cool! I think they would work best for the rock crawler and scaler guys cause they go through so much pant and modifications to make the bodies look beat up.

they would be good. but we don't drive RC cars at a scale speed. so the damage caused would be way to much.

I say stupid for that price. Lexan is pretty dang tough, and don't know how much more of an advantage these thing give, unless doing some kind of extreme bashing, and then every bit helps, I guess.
