When you get maintenance downtime of that kind of length, you know something's happening behind the scenes. FIngers crossed maybe this is finally the beginning of the end of the problems.
I would not bet on it.

Cant get on most of the time............keep getting errors, all day long it kept telling me Pardon or dust blah blah blah, under construction blah blah blah....server error. [:@]

I hear you SyCo, I never go to Facebook or Myspace because of Privacy concerns.

These type forums are all I got..........And I have learned to step back and read into things before I reply to anything. Don't wanna get flamed for having a different opinion. I find these forums priceless once you wade through all the crap! Sometimes I think that the crap is what brings out the best advice in the end though, ironically.
Big kick is when you get turned down for a job cause they can't find you on those infernal sites cause they feel you are hiding something...
I probably didn't get jobs due to not having any presence online using my real name. Sites like google if you would do a search of my name should turn up almost nothing that is relevant to me(well I did get ONE result of a site that does have my phone number listed but that was buried in the results).

Umm hmmm interesting seeing they have been saying changes are coming that would repair RCU for well over a year before HPI even announced the savage octane might be the savage.

BTW are the greater majority of the icons broken for anyone else?
also never bothered asking but can anyone see the more smiley window? when I click it I've been getting broken images down the whole thing since the last time we had a huge crash (when the majority left)

I can tell you all for a fact that things are happening. I can't say any more than that, and I still can't say when anything will be rolled out, but for the last two years I couldn't even confirm that any balls were rolling, they definitely are now. Please guys, be patient with us a bit longer.

EDIT: I'm now able to confirm that the downtime was related to planned near-future upgrades.

that was a good one, ( " THEY ALL GREW UP AND FLY AIRPLANES NOW"). I remember back in the day when the monster truck forums were hot as hell, then when truggies came on the scene WOW!!! This site was hot. Rc cars honestly took over for a subsitute for motorcycles, and sports cars. I used to love both a lot. I hurt my back weight training after a long lay off from a serious car accident I was in. Lot of metal plates and screws in my face, I also had a bruised heart. The one time had money to buy really nice cars and motorcycles, but the stiff ride hurts my back and sometimes causes numbness in my legs. Hey It could be a lot worse, I could be crippled, up and maybe could not do anything for myself. I consider myself lucky to have a good job, a little pain I can deal with but it is frustrating at times.

I think like others have said, you get older and priorities change, mow the yard, fix this, service that, Help mom, she had a mild stroke, the girlfriend, work responsibilities. Right now I thinking seriously about buying the last generation of trans am made. I just love the look, but the ride may stop me. The other option a Mazada 3. I had a escort gt back in 1993, It was really a fun car, it handled great, and was really quick ( just don't race moms in thier v-6 dodge caravans). Like people said, times change, priorities change etc. If i could sell most of my rc cars without losing my ass, I would probably try to get down to 4. Racing is fun to watch but just way to serious for me. The last thing I want to do when I get home from work is think.

Take care

Something is going on, if u look at the threads, the RCU regulars just talk about random stuff, it's like they don't even drive there cars anymore??? What's going on? I like seeing "look what ive done threads" but they are nearly nonexistant. Even the slash thread is nearly dead. So sad..

I'm still here, though admittedly not as often and not as vocal as I was in the past. I've been a LOT busier lately, not to mention I just simply haven't found anything lately I feel I could contribute to by posting in. Those of you wondering are in for a shock, weather's getting warmer and outdoor season is starting for much of the RCU patrons, numbers will drop even more soon!

I disagree completely based on past trends. Summer was when this place would pick up drastically as people would be out running, and talking about their newest setups, asking for help fixing what they broke/modifying it to be stronger, asking what they should buy, and what not. Winters usually the slow time as most people shelved their RC's cause they don't want to run them in the cold.

we all have our individual personal reasons for not hitting the forum like we used to.
personally i just got fed up with all RC forums. to many noobs, to many fanboys, and to many keyboard commandos (mainly teenagers). mix that with the lack of original content and i was pissed off and burnt out. every couple years stuff repeats itself. so it's the same crap over and over. after over a decade of it, im pretty much done with it.

i actually found it to be fairly flat my first couple years here. in the winter, the southern guys would post more because it was cool enough to be outside and winter racing was starting up north. then as it got warmer in the northern hemisphere, the northern guys would go outside and the southerners would go inside. i also saw more REAL projects around February as the northerners couldnt go outside without freezing their locknuts off but their shops where heated (by furnace or oxyacetylene torch) and they got a nice meaty tax returns check. around November 2010 was when i noticed the real slow down. i dont think it was one thing, i think it was everything. the issues with this site, the economy got screwed, other forums dedicated to specific sections of the hobby emerged, fanboys ran amuck, mods disappeared and "google is your friend" was the first reply to most "it broke" threads resulting in either A: that person went to another forum to seek help; or B: they did google it and found what they were looking for so they just continued to google when ever something happened.

yea I miss all the projects. Some gave me good ideas to use on mine (which are pretty much stagnate at current due to family issues)
I remember one when some guy got critical on a project someone was working on, and the person doing the critiques only project was painting a body black(not even masking the windows yo as badass crappy looking stickers went over), and slapping some monster energy stickers they got off ebay on it. And sadly that guy who took 3 mins to paint a body, and throw a few RPM parts on got more positive feedback than the people doing real projects.
