out of the closet....?
Yes I am a hard core Nitro Freek. I love everything Nitro, I even poor it on my cornflakes in da morning. I got to come clean with you all though, I am putting together an 1/8th E-flashlight latemodel to race this summer. Yes I said it, ELECTRIC latemodel. Lets just say, my Grandson talked me into it. I am NOT putting my Nitro cars aside but adding this one flashlight to the group. I am going to attemp to run all three classes of 1/8th scale late models at our track this summer.
With the help of forum members I have selected the Mamba Monster2 and 2200Kv for my power plant. This will leave me a system I can play with on 6s when I feel the need for a speed run.

I'm saying nothing.
Eman, perhaps you were being funny, but just in case, did you not know that nitro folks often refer to electric vehicles as 'flashlights', since they think that's all batteries are good for?

By the way, isn't it funny...when an electric guy says he's going nitro, he doesn't get 1* ratings on his post. When a nitro guy goes electric though, the handbags come out.
Funny too, isn't it, that the nitro people think the electric people are haters, when in actual fact, between the two, nitro has BY FAR the most 'online terrorists'.
Go ahead and rate this post 1*, PROVE ME RIGHT!!! HAHAHAHA.

anyways I own both, well I own a hell of a lot more electric then nitro. Main reason is it took me many more electric RC's to find a few I was happy with, and funny enough almost every electric RC I'm happy with started out its life as a nitro.

What I hate to see, however....are conversions. I respect it for creativity and if your skilled enough to do it you can handle nitro....but I hate to see it.

You might not have guessed it, but I'm a nitro head. I'm cool when someone else who is in to nitro tries an electric. :-)

like for example out of the 14(or so don't feel like counting) electrics I own the ones that are the most durable are my Jammin X1 CRT, and 2 jammin .5 CRTs which were converted from nitro.
In the X1's defense I was going to run it as nitro, but the motor mounts were trashed(tried finding the proper ones unsuccessfully), and the chassis plate where the motor mounts screwed in was trashed also by the guy I bought it from(along with a few other parts like the tank) so as I had the esc, and electric motor already was cheaper to go electric then the $100+ in parts to fix it.
The .5 I got it purposely to make an electric as it was cheaper than any electric kit, and built way better.

RE: out of the closet....?
Electric has it's place, but it bores me. I enjoy my vintage gold pan with Venom brushless set-up, but nowhere near as much as my nitro cars. Electric just lacks the realism; no noise, no actual brake. There's just somethin' about burning REAL fuel in a tiny car that makes it better.
That, and I've always kinda viewed electrics as the lazy man's RC. Not trying to be insulting, just how I feel. Getting a nitro perfectly tuned and making it absolutely scream is just gratifying to me.
As for the usual versus nonsense, yeah.......it does get old, though unlike Foxy, my observation has been that the electric crowd is the rabid one. "your nitro can't make the insta-torque!", blah, blah, blah. They do tend to shut up when my RC10GT beast comes out, though. A .32-powered 10th scale will waste most brushless cars no problem
What's wrong with conversions?
My next endeavor is stuffing a Tee Dee .010 into my Losi micro DT.
