It says 45mph on the box...

And with a decent tune they should be able to hit 45mph without breaking a sweat.
Pretty quick glance at their speedo, but yeah, it looks to be at or just under 45.

I would hope a $550 kit with a two speed and a .21 could at least muster that. Up to 45 or 50 MPH is pretty easy, and for a lot less money than that. 60+ is a whole 'nother ball-o-wax, though. The kits I have that can't do 45 MPH are a shorter list that the ones that can, but I only have two that break 60 MPH at the moment.

45 is not bad for truck that weighs 10+ pounds

Not at all. Sure, they call themselves "fast" but speed without handling is no good for racing. And it would take more money and trial & error to make a Traxxas race ready. In racing HANDLING is extremely important. The car/truck has to respond immediately to your input. If you have to fight it, you'll never be able to control it properly.

revo.... they handle awsome on grass and at skateparks.... problary one of the best for that style of bashing.....

i mean what other nitro bash truck can reverse up a set of stairs....

but i know we are talking about dedicated racing yeah?
As a racer the revo platinum in 2008 was very competitive, and still to this day u will see one or 2 racing at state level competition...

Sure there are other things out there that are considered heaps better. But honestly the handling differences are no way as subtle as some people may suggest. The average joe blow wouldn't notice much of a difference at all, especially if he was not timing laps.

oh and dont forget the slash...
its highly competitive in the stock Slash class.... it all ways gets a podium finish
