Hey guys, can anyone recommend a cheap reliable servo... well if such a thing exists

I've got a Tamiya Clodbuster that has been lenthened with a massive and heavy 1/6 ABS body...and vertical servo mount
With the combination of the weight and the massive wheels its having a hard time turning. And struggles holding it all straight from torque steer.

The current 15kg Tower pro servo failed one the first run just from dry steering.... the servo case was not tightened correctly and it poped the gear shaft from its hole.... i put it back together and then it stripped out a alloy servo horn....ahhhhh....
Its ment to be a 24T splined but becaue of the bad machining a 24t wont last... i managed to fix that with a 23t axial servo saver but now the servo has lost nearly all its power.....i think i might of cooked it

I dont know what to do?

The Alturn one and the bluebird ones look good.
Ive got a bluebird servo in my slash and its still going as strong as ever.

So i got to looking at other BB servos and i found this....

But, thats a little expensive. I can get a 1/5 40kg servo for $50 including postage... but only problem would be making a mount for it.

And both are going to need a BEC....

Hobbico CS-170 - It's by no means 'cheap', but it's performance for the dollar is about as good as it gets. It is cheap compared to others of the same spec.

Cheerz guys. I'll might try that solar D772 with a castle 10 BEC set to 7.4v.... Its cheap enough to try.... Well fingers crossed lol.... If that fails the hobbico will be the next one to try... And if that fails.... I'm selling the car lol

I here ya.... I mean this car is mostly made from junk and spare parts.... So a expensive servo is not my first choice.... But I'm thankfully for foxy's reccomendation. Because it means I have a last resort, something to fall back on it the others are no good..as I've ruled out the possibility of 1/5 servos because of the CPE dual shock mounts take up that room

still really liking that solar D772...30kg on 2s.... That's impressive only problem I'm currently running the clodbuster on 3s so I'll still need adjustable BEC, and so far the castle 10a BEC sounds like the best value, even compare to the chep eBay ones....

Money key is very tight ATM because of Xmas, but hopefully I can get that D772 with in the next few weeks....

just wondering. If there any 1/10 servo over 30kg/cm,417oz/in?

There're a few, the first one above is the most bang for buck, but the Hitec 7980 is a buy once servo, enough torque to lift a truck on its steering and bombproof.

Well if you order the solar servo add a BEC.

Yep... Ok I don't think I'll be getting that servo, just went to order the solar d771 and hobby partz want $43.20 just for postage to Australia!!!
i might shoot them a email. That can't be right.... I hope not

It is right. They want $90 to ship a $40 flysky radio to me in Greece (for example). Its the only reason I don't use them.

I used this one with my plow truck. http://www.ebay.com/itm/new-servo-of...p2054897.l4275 Not sure if this one is 208oz/in or 244oz/in. The one I bought was 244oz/in, but I was able to get it through PPP on eBay. This guy is just selling some random servo that he has no idea what it is and doesn't specify. The sticker logo is PPP, but who knows which one it is. It's risky, but I just wanted to say that I've had good luck with the 244oz/in PPP servos...

We have been using both the Solar anaolg and digital servos in both our .60 size planes and 1/8 scale buggies and so far they have stood up to everything we have thrown at them, best bang for the buck in my estimation plus they center just great.

I was referring to the brand of servo. The only reason one of my PPP servos died is from being overloaded. This guy who is selling the only one I could find doesn't have a very specific description and you may or may not get the model I was speaking of since he doesn't list very many details. It's hard to tell. But I was just saying I've had good luck with the PPP servos that I've bought in the past, and that I would definitely recommend them...
