Vaterra Kalahari or Team Associated SC10
Please excuse the strange question but which one? I am leaning towards the Kalahari because of the 45+ mph with a lipo and cheaper price but I also like the sc10 so which is better. Vaterra $150 RTR and SC10 $230 RTR

With the SC10, you will be able to find a ton of hop ups and replacement parts at just about any hobby shop. The other i have never herd of!
My SC10 with a mamba max pro esc and an 8.5 turn motor does over 50mph on 2 cell lipo.

The vatrerra shares at least 90%(heard the chassis, bumpers, and drive shafts are only unique parts) of parts with the Losi mini 8ight (sure you herd of that right oval ) Vaterra is owned by horizon just like Losi, and even ECX
Only issue I have with the vaterra is the battery compartment (I do own one haven't had a chance to run it due to weather) it needs the smaller packs like the ones the mini revo, and RC18s use

I do prefer smaller cars but the associated seems appealing at 1/10 and such an attractive price at $230 completely ready to run and $20 off at tower hobbies that's quite the bargain.

I don't think the brushed SC10 is waterproof, could be wrong tho.
I was looking at the base brushed sc10 on tower just the other day. My SC10 is pretty worn. I can do the 3 pay option, and with free shipping and the discount code I can get the sc10 for $58 (x3)
Since I already have a brushless ESC/motor, I can sell the stock system as well as stock radio and get back $40-$50.
I own the Kalahari and on a 3s it is fast. But if you compare both trucks in stock form with stock nimh batteries then the sc10 is a bit faster. The kal stock is around 25mph (which is quick) and goes 35ish on a 2s. It will do 45mph on a 3s if you run the largest spur gear and ONLY on pavement. That motor is decent but is also small. running 3s really pushes its limits. I would not suggest running 3s all the time nor running 3s on anything other than smooth pavement.
The Kalahari can be had for less than $150 (at least last time I looked on ebay, it was $115 shipped)
As much as I like the kal, a sc10 is a better basher...due to the fact it can drive over more terrain. Bigger tires and a bit more ground clearance. That said, the kal will drive over stuff that most models its' size will not. It is very capable for its' size. It makes a better rally car most 1/10 cars sold as rally cars!
